Windows 10: Right click on Taskbar icons only works on certain icons but not all of them?

Hi,


For example, if I right-click on Excel and try to start a file from a pinned file, it will not start, but if I click on Word and do the same the file will open. Or if I right-click on Chrome or Edge and try to start Incognito or private window it will not work.


I have done some research on this.


I think this issue happened after I installed a new graphic card but I'm not sure. It also happened after a "forced" BIG Windows update a few weeks back I just happened to look at my computer and it was updating and I did not ask or approve the update...


My Restore points were not activated so I could not go back to a previous version :


I am using three adapters for 5 monitors:

IntelR HD Graphics - on the motherboard recently installed driver

NVIDIA GeForce GT710 recently installed driver

NVIDIA GeForce GT740 older card driver not changed


I tried the following from other threads** to no avail:

This last one with ShellEXView seemed to be the most viable, but all it did was give me right-click on Word.

I also tried reinstalling Windows keep apps and files using the "Reinstall Windows using installation media" and keep everything Don't want to start over and re-install years of apps and data if possible! but that did not change anything...

Also, right-click on the start menu does not work on anything either!


Can someone make some sense out of this?

System Icons on taskbar

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Are you referring to the clock system icon on the taskbar?

If so, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

• 
  Click on the search bar on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Type system icons.
  
• 
  Under Turn System Icons ON or OFF, turn On the Clock and check with the issue.

Taskbar icons

To address your concern, follow the steps below on how to show hidden icons on the taskbar.

• Open Settings, and click on the Personalization
  icon.
• Click on Taskbar on the left side, and click on the
  Select which icons appear on the taskbar link under the Notification area section on the right.
• Turn on Always show all icons in the notification area at the top

Blank shortcut icon GPU-Z

I know I am quite late but as I was scrolling through I saw this post which happened to one of friend too. This sometimes happens with Windows. Usually a reboot will solve the problem. However if this doesn't, try setting the icon for the shortcut(right-click pinned icon, right-click program, left-click properties, select "change icon...") or refreshing it by switching to a different icon, applying it, and then reverting back to the original icon. Remove the shortcut from the taskbar and replace it with the start menu shortcut or simply drag the .exe file to the taskbar.
