  1. RNDIS not working for Raspberry Pi Zero W

I was following an online tutorial about how to connect to and use my Raspberry Pi Zero W with my laptop by making it an Ethernet device, but when I go into device manager it doesn't show up. It's not under Network and Devices or COM ports, and I've read that there should've been drivers that installed automatically but they didn't. Nothing new is showing up in the Network and Devices area of device manager, which is where is should be. I'll link the guide I was following below, and if anyone can help, thank you so much.

  3. Raspberry Pi Zero Ethernet Gadget

So, I'm running Win 10 1607 Home 64-bit on an HP 15, and I just got a Raspberry Pi Zero. I don't have a mini-to-HDMI cord, so naturally I'm more interested in SSh'ing it so I don't have to buy an adapter. And I can't get it to work.

I formatted the 16gb SD with SD Formatter.

Then I burned version 5-27-2016 of Raspbian Jesse onto the SD with Win32 Disk Imager.

Then went into the config.txt and typed dtoverlay=dwc2 on the bottom on a new line.

Then I went into cmdline.txt and added modules-load=dwc2,g_ether after the rootwait module.

Unplugged the SD and inserted it into the Zero. Put a cable from the usb port of the zero to my laptop.

I already have Bonjour and Putty, so I wait a minute (the Zero green light turned on btw) after plugging in the cable from my Zero to my laptop.

Then try to ssh into *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, and raspberrypi.local. Naturally those failed, but the strange thing is, there's no new device in Device Manager. I'm confused. I've checked every folder for new devices, especially the network adapters folder. There is
no "Other Devices" folder present. I have tried EVERY variation known to man, finally gave up and tried in linux, which also didn't work. So my question is, what am I missing.

thx ahead of time, if you have any hardware or software questions I will get you whatever specs you need.

  4. RNDIS not working for Raspberry Pi Zero W

Trouble seeing Raspberry Pi in Networks

I have a Raspberry Pi that is running samba to share with the Windows network. In Run, I enter \\Raspi and it comes right up with the appropriate shares. That means the samba shares are actually there, yet when I open Networks, all my computers are there except the Raspi.

    To try to fix this:
    1. I rebooted both the Pi and my PC
    2. I double checked the samba configuration and checked it with testparm
    3. I made certain the samba and pi passwords are the same
    4. I found a list of PC services that need to be running and set them all to automatic

Again, all my PC's and some devices like my Roku and printer are visible, just not the Pi.

    Suggestions?
