  1. Rocket League 100% CPU Usage?

So I'm not sure what's going on, but up until yesterday, I can't play Rocket League. The game is extremely laggy and my CPU usage jumps to 100% when it's running. I never had this issue before, as I played the game for a total of 3 hours so far. I'm clueless as to why I'm having these problems.

Here's my build: System Build - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC Black Edition, Carbide Quiet 600Q ATX Full Tower - PCPartPicker (hard-drives are standard 500GB solid-state).

If I need to provide any more information, I'm more than willing to help. Hope to hear some feedback!

    :)

  4. Rocket League 100% CPU Usage?

    Hi Nicholonio.

Lets start with the basics. How old is this machine?

If you go to Windows Update history what was installed in the last five days concentrating on last two days.

What other changes have been made in last five days, cabling, software, equipment, video resolution?

Have you run Chkdsk to see if you have any errors?

What does task manager tell you about apps using processor when your game starts. (Sort the column by clicking on the word CPU.) Is your game driving the usage.

How many AV's are you running, some sneak in when you down load valid products

What version build of Windows 10 are you running, Windows key + R, type winver, enter.

  5. The machine is basically new, I just built it 2 months ago over the summer.

    These were the two updates:
    - 2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4038788)
    - 2017-09 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4038806)

No changes have been made with cabling, software, equipment, or video resolution.

No, I haven't run Chkdsk, but I'm assuming no errors?

Yes, Rocket League drives the usage up really high. Like I mentioned, it's 92%-100%.

    I'm running Windows 10.

  6. Because it is new does not mean you don't have a disk issue. Worth checking.

If Rocket League is driving usage by itself I would head to their forum as there should be a concentration of people with same issue. You can also check for patches or fixes they may have issued.

When you start Rocket league how much memory and disk does it consume.

One fix, to isolate those updates, you can always back those updates out and test. Make an Image with a tool like Macrium Reflect so if something horrible goes wrong you have plan B. Do not skip having a Plan B however you do it.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

Also ensure you have bootable media to get to Windows.

  7. How do I check the disk issue then, can you walk me through the steps?

And I did post on their forum, but it's waiting to be approved by a moderator, hence why I came here.

I'll look into the Macrium Reflect....

  8. Rocket League 100% CPU Usage?

Figured out my issue. I installed the game on my HDD instead of my SSD. Either I have a faulty HDD or the game can't be run through there..who knows?

  9. Here is the write up on Chkdsk.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

While your HDD is slower it is interesting that it would drive, and keep CPU at 100%.

Let's say your hdd was d: drive. At a command prompt(admin) type

    chkdsk d: /r

It may ask to restart system. Please do not use you computer while this check is occurring.

  10. Check your GPU usage, notice it when lag spikes occur

  11. I have djanthony, and it occurs as soon as I load up the game. In fact, it just came back up, only this time on my SSD now.

I was busy and couldn't respond since my last post here, but when I got back, I had to reinstall Windows 10. After reinstalling all my games, I installed Rocket League back on my SSD this time around and now the issue is back.

    Any help?

  12. Is it the only game it’s happening on? Do you run it via steam? Only reason I ask is I have steam and Rocket League installed. And whilst I never play it I did notice it received a fairly large update to the game recently when I was in the steam client. It could be that an update recently has addressed the issue, or, caused it. And to scour the forums for that game on steam and see if it’s a common issue and if workarounds exist. Maybe look at updating your gpu drivers, I tend to leave these well alone by adopting a ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ mantra but seeing as you have an issue it’s worth looking at that

  14. Yeah, that's the only game it's happening on, and I run it via Steam. All my GPU drivers are updated as well. I posted this problem on the forums of Rocket League as well, but I haven't heard anything so I gave that up a long time ago, haha.
