Windows 10: Rumour: Windows updates 2017

I have just seen this on a South African Tech website (link below). Any confirmation of this?
Two big Windows 10 updates coming in 2017

 

I can't seem to lay hands on the story, but I recall seeing something from Paul Thurrott or Mary Jo Foley in the last week that indeed MS is planning two big releases for 2017, both around Redstone 2 (the upcoming Insider Build series code name). This actually sounds like a pretty well-founded rumor.

That said, your own source ultimately tracks back to a Microsoft Windows for IT Pros blog post that includes the following language, though:

"Windows 10, version 1607 is our third Windows 10 feature update released. Based on feedback from organizations moving to Windows 10, this will be our last feature update for 2016, with two additional feature updates expected in 2017."

If you ask me, that official statement more or less confirms it as a plan rather than a rumor. But of course, plans are always subject to change...

Windows phone discontinued?

...but there are persistent rumours of Microsoft working on a new line of Microsoft branded phones marketed as the Surface Phone. Latest rumours are for release in late 2017/ supposed to feature the new snapdragon 835 octacore processor and GPU. Further
rumours suggest compatibility with normal x86 programs when it is run on continuum.

Still these rumours have not been formally substantiated by Microsoft.

Is this the end for the companies who make different products for different purposes?

Its design still sucks.Should be more attractive that people can assume it is a giant phone not a thingy ultrasonograph machine.

 

We may find out approximately when the next "Windows feature update" is due when the next insider preview evaluation is released - by its expiration date.

What's the betting for January (1701) and July (1707) in 2017 for the next "Windows feature updates"?

 

Since this year was February and August, what about March and September for next year?
