Windows 10: Run as administrator stops other applications

After my recent upgrade from Win7 to 10 I have found that whenever an app is "run as administrator" the computer stops access to all other applications and functions. I cannot use the mouse on any other apps or the task bar. If I press CTRL+ESC I can once again mouse through other apps or the task bar or start menu but if I go back to the "run as admin" app I lose control of these things until I press CTRL+ESC again. I have not seen this on other Win10 computers. Windows Update is fully up to date. How can I correct this.

Unable to Run Certain Applications Without Running as Administrator [Windows 10 x64bit]

To always run applications as administrator I would suggest following the below instructions followed by a URL that you may refer to for more information.

Step 1: Open the Start menu and click All apps. Find the program you want to always run in administrator mode and right-click on the shortcut. In the pop-up menu, click Open file location. Only desktop programs (not native Windows 10 apps) will have this option.

Step 2: A File Explorer window will open to the location of the program you want to access. Right-click on the program and click Properties from the pop-up menu.

Step 3: In the Properties window, click the Shortcut tab and then click Advanced...

Step 4: In the Advanced Properties window, check the box next to Run as administrator and click OK.

Step 5: The program will now open in administrator mode when you click the shortcut from the Start menu. You'll need to repeat these steps for each program you want to have this feature.

Win8.1 can "Run as administrator" be deactived?

What is stopping you? Any application can be run with elevated permissions. I think you might be asking the wrong question. *Wink
