Windows 10: Safe Mode Password Issue (lost password)

Greetings all:

When I installed Windows on this system, I used a temporary password as my current one is a tad too difficult to use.
Once installed, I went to Live and Hotmail to change password.

However, now, a year onwards, I need to get into my Safe Mode here, but... it simply does NOT accept my new password, it demands my OLD one (the one used during setup).

Whomever figured that this was a clever move to bring this in, surely was a Joker, thinking that it was fun to pull this stunt.
Well, it's definitely not funny...

I have really no idea what the old password is 9as it was purely for the bloody setup), and I see tons of "change password" info that will reset my current one, but I cannot do this on this system.

In short: I need to get into my Safe Mode WITHOUT resetting my password all-over.
Is there a way to edit the old password into a new, simple one?
If so, just how do I do this WITHOUT thrashing my current password used on my system?

Problems with password in Safe Mode

When I try to log on to my desktop computer in Safe Mode it tells me my current password is incorrect. If I log on to my laptop computer in Safe Mode my current password is accepted. My wife can log on to my desktop computer in Safe Mode using her current password without any problem. If I log on to my desktop computer in Safe Mode using my previous Microsoft password, however, that is accepted.

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem with my desktop Safe Mode log-on and how I can get it to accept my current password, please.

Password issue

After going through the steps to make a new password, after a week or two, my login credentials are no longer valid. I'm forced to make a new password all over again. It seems to happen if I don't login in a certain period of time. Does our passwords expire???

 

Password not accepted in Safe mode

Could you please help me with the below questions:

• Are you aware of any changes happened on the computer prior to internet issue started?
  
• Are you referring to PIN password or Microsoft account password?
  

I understand the inconvenience caused due to this issue, this could be due to a change in the keyboard layout. However, I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Change the keyboard layout.

1. In the bottom right corner of the sign in screen, select the first option to change the keyboard layout.
2. Try to change the keyboard layout from the list if you have any and type in the password.
   

Method 2: Use the On screen keyboard.

1. Restart the computer. In the sign in screen, hold down the shift key and select restart from bottom right corner of your screen.
   
2. After the pc is restarted, select Troubleshoot > Select
   Advanced options >Click on Startup settings >
   Now, click on Restart.
3. After your PC restarts, you should see number of options. Press F5 for
   Safe Mode with networking.
4. When you are in login screen, press Windows
   and U together on the keyboard
   and select the On-Screen Keyboard from the
   Ease of Access list or click on
   Ease of Access at bottom right and select
   On-Screen Keyboard from the list.
5. Now, use the cursor to type the password with On-screen keyboard.
   
6. Before clicking the login, press the eye symbol
   (I.e. Reveal Password) option in the password field, to see the password is correct.

After you login to safe mode with networking, I would suggest you to follow the steps provided in the Microsoft article on
Fix network connection issues in Windows.
