  1. Safe to delete an intermediate partition in Windows 10 for dual booting with Ubuntu

My laptop uses MBR partition scheme. Currently, there are 5 partitions on my disk, 3 of them are primary partitions. picture given below

I am planning to install Ubuntu 20.04 on one of the partitions. Do I need a primary partition to install Ubuntu? In that case, I would have to delete the D: partition, but I am worried if it is safe to delete an intermediate partition? as there are E: and F: partitions.

I have read that for MBR partition scheme, the system can only boot from primary partitions. So can I use a logical partition to install Ubuntu or should I only go for a primary partition?

I am asking for the best and safest way to dual boot with Ubuntu. Considering my partition scheme, can you please suggest the best possible way to achieve this?

P.S.: I am willing to allocate around 200 gb to Ubuntu.

    safe to delete intermediate partitions?

I actually dual-booted ubuntu long back onto the 50gb unallocated space, but in the recent past, ubuntu started misbehaving, long boot-up time, heating of laptop, also short of storage. so I wanted to install it again. so I deleted the partition (50gb).
not sure about ext4. my data on ubuntu is backed up to windows.

    safe to delete intermediate partitions?

I'm dual booting ubuntu 18.04.3 alongside Windows 10, I want to allocate 100gb of disk space for ubuntu. I already have 50gb of unallocated space, I want to extend another 50gb from windows c. but there are two partitions in between can I delete them? I
wanted to know the contents of the 23.82gb partition, as some answers have suggested giving it a name and looking into its contents but on right-clicking the partition all options are disabled except delete volume and help.

    safe to delete intermediate partitions?

Hi Pal. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator here to help you.

Use a Partition manager like free Partition Wizard or Easeus to issue a drive letter to the 24gb partition, post back a screenshot of it's contents

If it has the Recovery folder then it is needed to boot into repairs if Windows ever fails to start, or you can use bootable media or a Recovery drive to boot the same repairs. So you could delete it but just be aware that you'd need Recovery media if the recover
mode starts now and doesn't afterward. You can test that one of these ways:

An alternative woud be to delete F and shrink/resize C in Disk Management or using the same partition manager to create enough space for a Linux partition. Or install to the 51 gb partition if you think that's large enough.

There's a good tutorial here for dual booting with Linux:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
