SAFE_OS failure C1900101-20017 - in place upgrade. Maybe SCSI driver?

Trying to perform an in-place upgrade Win7-Win10 on a Del Prec. T5600. The process seems to be OK, but when it restarts it presents the troubleshoot screen, and then rolls back to Win7. if I open a command line, diskpart shows no disks but the media creation tool USB drive, so I suspect that I need to supply a driver for the scsi host controller. Herein lies the rub. I don't know of any way to get the in-place upgrade setup to ask for disk drivers. There does not seem to be a way to get to that particular screen. I can get there from a new installation, but for a bucket of perhaps not technical reasons, I would really prefer to do an in place upgrade here. Below is the marinara. I hope I have enough info here to get pointed in the right direction. Dell Precision T5600 A19 BIOS Intel C600 host controller 2 WD drives - Legacy boot- AHCI mode - no RAID Thanks

    :)

BSOD while upgrading to Windows 10, error C1900101-20017

Hi, I've tried 11 times to upgrade to Windows 10, but every time, no matter what I try, I am confronted with a blue-screen after the first restart in the upgrade process. Upon rebooting, I get a box pop up which tells me I have got error C1900101-20017 and "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with error during BOOT operation". When I click ok, Windows 7 loads once again.

    I have tried:
    • Updating all of my drivers
    • Uninstalling my antivirus (re-installed it now since it didn't work)
    • Unplugging unnecessary peripherals
    • Clean boot (nothing running on startup)
None of these have changed a thing.

Someone on Reddit is saying they managed to get it fixed by switching to UEFI boot mode, but I can't find that option in my BIOS.

    Here is the minidump thing:
    Attachment 27120
