Windows 10: Safely Uninstall Norton Internet Security?

Yes they were helpful and knew what he was doing.

Now I'm wondering how long Defender is going to keep running scans. Just finished the third one since enabling it. I've got to be sanitary by now!

 

I've never used Defender for more than maybe 15 mins, as it took me that long to completely disable it...LoL Good luck with Defender, lots of people use and love it. Just might take a while I guess. You could try a re-boot if it does not stop.

 

I have used "Comcast Free" version of Norton Security Suite and "reinstalled and uninstalled many times". The advanced, uninstall only tool works just fine. However, you still will find registry entries if you run Ccleaner afterwords.
I'm trying out Windows Defender's latest offering.

 

Just had Defender do a full scan. Another reboot will come soon enough. I'll probably add something to go "with it" before it's over.

The Removal Tool got nearly everything. But then the attempt by Norton to download and install another 32 bit version put a lot of stuff back. That alone was enough to convince me I didn't want it anymore.

That program's a lot like a Digital STD! Hard to get rid of.

Norton's server pings your machine since day one and the H key is still there. The IP link must be killed. The solution is in Regedit or in Firewall. Revo lets you safely search registry: screenshot

Is there other product(s) that you have from them that may help to search registry? You need to fully disable the IP link. It is the only job left.

The Pro version of Ccleaner (14 days) may give better results. Activation requires Internet.

 

The tech said he disabled all communication/traffic between us. I may yet have to go Revo. Just a little reluctant because I know little about what I'm doing in this area. Kind of a "First Time" for me. We'll see ...

 

In Windows Firewall with Advanced Security on Local Computer, check in outbound/inbound rules (name and group) and delete rules labeled under their name. Run Ccleaner!

 

No mention of Norton or Symantec anywhere in either the inbound or outbound.

 

By experience, shutting down for a full night also gives very good results. If it comes back, Revo won't kill you and you may want to try the Pro version (5.28) if you want.

So far, you have made a good move because you run Defender now.
