Windows 10: Same Windows 10 Key?

Recently I had to replace parts in one of my computers due to a power spike that took out the hard drive and the motherboard. It was originally a Windows 7 PC that I upgraded to Windows 10 Home when Microsoft was offering the free upgrade. I have many computers in my house, more than people living here. I couldn't find the key so I reloaded Win 7 and then redid the upgrade to Win 10. I couldn't find the Win 10 key yes I know that there is a digital license in the registry but if I have to re-install I wanted the key so I ran a key finder program and wrote down the key. After that I decided to make sure I had the keys for all of the rest of my computers and among the 13 licenses I said I had a lot of computers in the house I found that the two oldest ones had the same Windows 10 key. Then I remembered that when I upgraded them from Windows XP to Windows 7 I had purchased the Windows 7 Family Pack which allowed installing the same license key on three computers. So these two had the same Windows 7 key and ended up with the same Windows 10 key when I did the free upgrade. My niece has the third computer with the Family Pack license since I gave it to her when she went to college. I assume that it also has the same Win 10 key. So how does Microsoft keep track of that?

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

 

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
