Windows 10: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M2 - Windows 10 Install Issues

I am trying to install a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on a Samsung MZ-V7E500BW 970 EVO 500 GB V-NAND M.2 PCI Express Solid State Drive which is installed in a Asus Z97-A motherboard with latest BIOS.


The SSD has been installed in the M2 slot. M2 slot set as activate as PCI-E.


Secure boot has been disabled and the keys cleared


Set to other OS (not Windows UEFI)


Boot priory confirmed as Samsung 970 EVO.


All other SATA drives disconnected.

Trying to install Windows 10 Pro from a UEFI USB created media (from MS media creation tool), tried both in USB2 & 3 port. Also have tried the DVD way but couldn't load the NVMe drivers from the disc.


Error messages are one of the following if Windows 10 happens to find the drive 0x80070057, 0x80004005, 0x80070001, 0x80300002.

I have also tried using the diskpart command (via Shift F10 command prompt etc) to select the drive and clean it so that I can select the unallocated space and click next to install Windows but still get any of the above errors (mainly 0x80070057) when it moves onto the next stage.


Can somebody suggest a way to get Windows 10 installed on this drive with this motherboard or could the drive be faulty.

gigabyte Z370 HD3 + Samsung EVO 970 won't install Windows 10

Newly assembled system:

• Gigabyte Z370 HD3 V1.0 motherboard
  
• Intel i7-8700 CPU
  
• 2x DDR4-3200 16GB RAM (F4-3200C16D-32GVK)
  
• Samsung EVO 970 500 GB M.2 SSD (MZ-V6E500)
  
• Thermaltake TR2 S 500 W PSU (TRS-0500P-2)
  
• Deepcool Tesseract case (seems doesn't matter)
  

All components come new, unpacked.

Windows 10 Pro installation failed at the step "Getting files ready for installation." when about 70-80% complete.

I used both the original Windows 10 Pro DVD and a USB stick prepared by a Microsoft tool; the result is the same.

I tried to use the pre-installation SATA driver from the Gigabyte website.
Once I installed this driver at the step "Where do you want to install Windows", my M2 drive had disappeared from the list.

The same situation repeated with another set of components.

By the way, when I try the same set of components but with an ASUS Z370-P motherboard, there is no problem with Windows 10 installation.

I still need to assemble some systems with Gigabyte motherboards.

Update: It was easy to install Windows 10 on the SATA SSD. Same conditions: Gigabyte motherboard, but SATA SSD instead of M2 SSD.

Any suggestion what to do in order to install Window properly?

How to regain all unallocated space on my New Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe drive?

Hello Everyone,

I just now installed a new Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB SSD drive to my system, and cloned all the old information from my old 256GB M.2 SSD to this new one. All went good and my system and Bios sees the New Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB
SSD and it boots to it and runs just Great.

However.. my new Drive is only using the first 250GB like the old drive was. My new drive has 227.30GB of Unallocated space on it.

How can I us all of the New drive??... Is there a Free utility or Paid or can this simple be done in Windows 10 that will allow me to move the unused "unallocated" portion so I can Us my whole 500GB drive??... I tried both EaseUS and Macrium
Free ware with no Luck.

I'm running the newest drivers and Windows 10 1809 x64. And as you can probably tell I'm new to this and would GREATLY appreciate a step by step on how to do this.
