Windows 10: Samsung Laptop R590, Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 fails error 0xC1900101 - 0x200017

Dear Support Team,

Why does Microsoft skip check the hardware or do not provide a clear statement that not all hardware support Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10?

For examples, there are several families of Samsung laptops (my case is R590) with Broadcom Wlan card that will not perform the upgrade without replacement of the hardware, the broadcom wlan card in my case.

What will be a recommendation to those cases with Windows 7 laptops? Should people expect that Microsoft will provide a minimal support for such laptops or people should switch to one of versions of linux then?

Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 fails error 0xC1900101 - 0x200017

I recently received a warning screen from Microsoft to tell me my Windows 7 is going end-of-life in January 2020. I don't want to be unsupported so I decided to upgrade to Windows 10, as my computer spec is OK for the upgrade in terms of hardware and software;
so I bought a Windows 10 upgrade DVD (legally) for the local equivalent of about $160.

It doesn't work. It loads all the updates in about an hour, then reboots and comes up with the blue screen saying "We couldn't install Windows 10" and the error 0xC1900101 - 0x200017, and "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during
BOOT operation".

I am not a PC expert, although before I retired I spent 30 years in IT and know my way vaguely round a PC, although my knowledge is probably about 12 years years out of date.

I've been through a lot of the stuff on this forum, and a lot of it is too complicated for me.

I've disabled my virus checker, removed all USB connected devices and tried twice now with the same error.

This problem has clearly been happening pretty much since Windows 10 came out and no-one (not even Microsoft) has come out with a straightforward solution. What I want is Microsoft to say: THIS is what you do, it's simple, and then it works.

I have a Samsung R590 laptop with i5 CPU at 2.4 GHz, 4.00 GB of RAM, Windows 7 Home 64-bit Service Pack 1. My disc drive is partitioned into two with 40 GB free on C: and 250 GB free on D: My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M running DirectX 11 with
WDDM 1.1 driver and my display is 1366x768.

Anyone at Microsoft care to answer (please try to make it simple)? Otherwise I've wasted $160.

Did you try the list of quick fixes which include removal of third party AV.
