Windows 10: Samsung Magician

I use Magician with rapid mode on my 2nd SSD, and with rapid mode on, it makes that 2nd SSD VERY Fast. *Smile 1st drive is my M.2 drive, with Windows OS on it, 2nd drive I use for storage. (Rapid mode on)

 

Yes Mike it will work with M-2 Drives. I do not have one.

 

No you can't run rapid mode on ANY M.2 drive. *Smile The 2nd drive is NOT a M.2 drive.

 

It will permit the running of Rapid Mode on a Second SSD if The first is a M.2 Drive. This has been discussed already.

 

Yes I been reading the posts, what I was trying to explain is why I use rapid mode, and I would not remove my SM because of the use of rapid mode. I have SM installed on both machines. That's all I was showing....*Smile

 

Is it possible that both of you are saying the same thing? Magician will not support Rapid mode on an M.2 drive. If you have an M.2 and a regular Sata SSD, it will allow Rapid on the Sata SSD. If you have 2 M.2 drives, it will not allow Rapid mode on either M.2 drive.

Rapid mode DOES speed up non M.2 drives quite a bit.

 

Would be nice if that worked on non Samsung SSD's. So jealous of your speeds in that pic you posted today. You can bet my next SSD will be Samsung lol.

 

Samsung has always made the fastest SSD's *Smile Only ones I buy.

 

I show little or no improvement is speed using Rapid Mode. What I do see is that every Windows 10 Build Update or CU will fail unless I remove SM. After Tomorrow I may put it back. But I am tired of removing it at least once a month if not sooner.. The lack of sped improvement may be due to the fact that I am running SATA III drives on a machine that only supports SATA II. But till my machine fails to boot, I will continue using it. I can play All Steam Games without issue and have a decent Video Card and Memory. I am considering getting a Samsung 860 1TB SSD drive as the price is somewhat reasonable.

According to Samsung's instructions it would support its 840EVO, 850 EVO and 860 EVO which are SATA drive available in M2 format.

I read that, a few msgs back Josey, it must be your motherboard, and the lack of sata III support. I've never had to remove Magician for any Windows update....ever.
Have you thought about just upgrading your MB Josey?? That would not cost that much. Just an idea....

 

He might be in the same boat as me. If I chose to upgrade my motherboard, it would entail a new CPU, RAM as well. I have DDR3 and an older i7. *Sad

Same here and it's seen all sort of IPs.

And yeah, SATA II era MBs are such a bottleneck nowadays. I've a Dell Optiplex and an Acer laptop from that era. They're OK if you've got a lot of patience.....
