Windows 10: sandisk cruzer 32G

My testing of Windows 10 shows that the Sandisk Cruzer has no driver
in Windows 10 for it.
I have no idea how to send feedback to Microsoft so this can be added.

How Should I Update To Win 10 from Win 7 when I still need Win 7?

For Clarification:

1) put memory stick in USB port, and start my computer and click F12 key.

2) Yes now I do see the following:

Windows Boot Manager

USB1-1 (SanDisk Cruzer)

USB1-2 (SanDisk Cruzer)

Onboard NIC-IPv4

Onboard NIC-IPv6

I move the arrow down and highlighted "USC1-1 (SanDisk Cruzer), and it started boot.

I still get the "Select the driver to install" message.

Do you recommend me do the Elevaled Command Prompt and Diskpart clean command and re-create the the flash stick??

It should not need a special driver. Mine work fine but I don't use any software that might come with a flash drive.

 

I have 3 SanDisk Cruzers, all 16GB and they work fine with 10. They show up as

SanDisk Cruzer USB Device under Disk Drives in Device Manager.

 

It's possible that the sandisk is failing but I am able to use it in Windows 7.
Windows 10 says that there is an error with it.
Sandisk not that old and not used very much.

I had a Lexar USB 3 thumb drive that would not work on my desktop PC. I forget what the error message said. The same drive worked fine in my laptop though, on USB 3 and USB 2 ports. Both PC's were running 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I had just bought it so I took it back. No such issues with any of the Kingston or Sandisk thumb drives that I own though.

 

If I click properties for the Sandisk it shows 16,384 bytes being used by
a program called "ReadyBootDriver". If I format the Sandisk it still appears
on the drive. If I do a search on the drive another program shows up
"readyboostperf counters". This search was done on Windows 7 pro 64-bit.
I am also going to try the same thing on Windows 10 when I get the chance.....

 

I would say the ReadyBootDriver was involved in the situation with Windows 10, but I am not familiar with it. Maybe there is some update for that utility, but I run mine without any such software.

If you decide you want to clean the drive, Diskpart in an Administrative Command Prompt will do that. You could format if as Fat32 or NTFS depending on how you want to use the drive.

The link below shows model compatibility with Windows 8.1, so you might check it. I would not expect to see the same charts for Windows 10 for some time.

I did not put "readybootdriver " on my puter. I want nothing to do with it.
In Windows 10 it just gobbled up 4G of the Sandisk. I have been able to clean the drive
with Format. The default for the driver is Fat32. When I do a search in Windows 10
it can find no traces of it. I can't (don't know how) to point the search in Windows 10
to the Sandisk. Nothing is ever easy*Sad

 

I have never had a drive setup as readyboost automatically? You have to manually tell Windows to use it for readyboost. I hope that hasn't changed? Actually, I would be very surprised if it did. For that to work it has to be left plugged into the PC it was created on.

Plug it into your Windows 7 PC, go to Properties, then go to the Readyboost tab. If the box is checked for use this drive for readyboost, uncheck it. Then try formatting it again it. Then try it in your Windows 10 PC.

 

Yes, Alphanumeric I just found that also.
I did a search on "this PC" and windows found two items by Microsoft -
amd64_microsoft-windows-readyboostdriv....
in c:\windows\winsxs
c:\windows\winsxs\manifests

Will do as you suggested in windows 7 and windows 10.
Have NOT deleted the 2 items from my computer.
