Windows 10: Saving pictures to a picture folder

I went into my pc and opened up the pictures folder. I created a new folder within the folder. I drag and dropped a picture into the folder. I tried to drag and drop a second picture into the folder and it said I couldn't because there was already a file of the same name. Itgave me the option of either replacing the first pic or cancelling. I tried this with multiple pics and got the same message every time.

Saving pictures in the Pictures folder in Windows 10

Having just upgraded to Windows 10 I have tried to save a picture to a specific folder within the Pictures folder created during the upgrade. Within the Pictures folder there are a number of sub-folders which I had previously created in My Pictures folder
in Windows 7. So the upgrade appears to have worked ok.

However I am not allowed to save any pictures to any of the sub-folders. I receive a message as follows:

You don't have permission to save in this location.

Contact the administrator to obtain permission.

Would you like to save in the Pictures folder instead ..... if I click 'yes' nothing appears to happen.

Has anyone experienced this or has anyone got any suggestions

Pictures folder problems


Okay, I finally figured this out.

As it turns out in the Advanced folder options for the system folders like Pictures, My Documents etc, in all of them except for the Pictures folder, I was listed as a both the owner and as a user in the list of users that gives my account full access.

But for some reason the Pictures folder only had me listed as the owner but it never listed me in the list of users that can access the Pictures folder.

Once I added my account to the list in the advanced window then it now allows me to save to the Pictures folder.

Strange that I had no issues with any of those folders on W7, but after installing W10 it botched it up on all of those system type folders. In any event it's now working as it should (at least as far as I've tested so far).

Form the issue description, I realize that you are trying to view your pictures in the default pictures library. To do so, you have to change the location of the folder that contains your pictures to the default pictures library folder.



To view your pictures in the default pictures library, I suggest you to follow the steps below.

• 
  Right-click on the default Picture folder
  and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Navigate to Location tab.
  
• 
  Click on Move…. and select the folder that contains your pictures and click on
  Apply and then click on Ok.
