Windows 10: Scanning & Repairing stuck?

Discus and support Scanning & Repairing stuck? in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; "Scanning and Repairing Drive E: 9% Complete" has been running for about 11 hours now.     Scanning & Repairing stuck?


    "Scanning and Repairing Drive E: 9% Complete" has been running for about 11 hours now. Not sure if this is normal or if there is something I should do to abort this.

    There could be corrupted partition information on the drive. If you don't have anything of value on the drive, I'd recommend doing a full format (right-click the drive, choose format, and turn off the quick option).

    Scanning and Repairing Drive Loop

    Hello,

    You can manually cancel a scheduled disk check at boot up in Command
    Prompt.

    • Click the Start button.
    • Type Command Prompt.
    • Right-click Command Prompt and then select
      Run as administrator      .
    • Type the command below and then press Enter.
      • chkntfs /d
    • Close Command Prompt.

    If the Automatic Repair continues even after disabling the scheduled disk check, you may want to run it at least once to repair any corrupted startup file found. It should automatically stop once the repair is successful.

    Let us know the results.

    It can take a very long time to repair bad sectors, however I would think if it's still stuck on 9% for 11 hours plus that doesn't look good.
    Have a look at Resource Monitor > Disk > the drive that is being checked and see if it's actually doing anything?
