Windows 10: Screen auto dims when display is dark

Hi! I've had this issue and tried every single fix, yet nothing has worked.


Recently bought a HP laptop model: 15s-fq1002na and I've noticed it has this annoying auto dimming feature. When the screen is light ie on a white webpage the screen is bright. When I switch to a darker webpage, the screen slowly dims.


I have tried to change the power settings, but again there is no feature to turn off the auto-dim. I do not have the "enable adaptive brightness" setting within display as evidenced below



I also do not have the Intel HD Graphics control panel, so can't access any settings there. All my drivers are up to date.

I'm completely at the end of my tether here! It's a new laptop 4 days old so it's not like there's a virus or anything. Any help would be appreciated!

Screen auto dims when the backdrop is dark

I have disabled adaptive brightness, as well in my Intel Graphics Control Panel I have disabled display power saving technology. However whenever the backdrop is dark, the screen still dims. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series. Even when I have the computer
plugged in the screen dims when there is a dark backdrop.

My Acer laptop running Windows 10 has a very annoying feature: when running on battery, the LCD backlight dims gradually when displaying a dark screen and brightens gradually when displaying light screen.

This is especially annoying when switching between my IDE (which is dark and pleasant to the eyes) and a webpage.

I've figured out that this is happening only on battery, and no matter the display brightness, it happens unless I plug it in. I've checked if there's some setting in the Windows power settings, but nothing popped out at me (my laptop for instance doesn't have adaptive screen brightness).

Ambient Light Sensors are devices that detect the amount of available light in the workspace and automatically dim or brighten the LCD display based on the amount of light the system is encountering.

• If a system is being used on battery power, and the LCD is too dim, then the brightness may be adjusted with the Fn Key keystrokes for your system. Portable LCDs are set to full brightness on AC power by default, and to less than 1/2 that on battery to
  save power. On battery the ALS is normally disabled.
• You may need to disable the Ambient Light Sensor if you cannot control changing light situations (Working outdoors etc.) On most portable systems, this function is controlled in the BIOS (ALS enabled/Disabled.)

Right-click a blank area of the desktop and select Personalize. In the
Personalization window, click on Display found in the lower left. In the
Display window, click on Adjust Brightness in the upper left.

In this window for the display's Power Options you can change the way your laptop reacts to being on and off battery. You will also find a slider bar for
Screen Brightness in the bottom mid-right.
