    Screen flickering


    Hi there, i have a problem with my screen. My screen flicks, it goes black and returns back to normal, and this happens a lot in a short period of time. This can go to extreme cases in which my primary screen just stops working and i have to force restart my pc in order to get it back up. It seems that this started to happen when i updated my screen driver, through the driver menu. I let windows search automatically for drivers and updated it, and the roll back option is not available anymore, and there are no more updates.

    Screen flickering in Windows 10 safe mode

    I haven't made any changes on my device. This screen flickering is only happening in Safe Mode.

    Screen flickering can be caused by hardware or application issue.

    To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

    • Is the issue only happening in Safe Mode?
    • Have you made any changes on your device prior to the issue?

    Screen flickering in safe mode help!

    Hi Yasmeentq,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand your query. I suggest you to follow the steps to get out of safe mode.


    • Press Windows key + R

    • Type msconfig

    • In msconfig > Boot tab >
      Boot Options > uncheck Safe Boot > APPLY / OK.

    Screen flickering in Windows 10 is usually caused by incompatible apps or display drivers. I suggest you to refer to the article below and check if it helps.
