Windows 10: Screen freeze and no Screen saver

Hi, my laptop is 3 months old. Its an ACER SWIFT using Windows 10. Up until a few days ago, the system worked as it should. Recently, I noticed that the screen just freezes, no curser movement or action from any button pressed, unless I hold down the Power button and the laptop reboots.

When it reboots, all works well. Until that is it seems I don't or haven't used the laptop for a few minutes, it then goes into freeze mode again.

I'm no expert, but I'm not diddy either and I've checked my screen saver settings and nothing has changed, all due to come on within 5-10 minutes of non-use. I've seen a couple of blogs about this from a few years ago indicating checking clean boot etc but none of these have helped the posters with issues.

I have no error codes or messages. Just a frozen screen/laptop.


I use Norton Utilities which I've subscribed to.


I need and use this for my business and so desperate to have it rectified. Any help appreciated, it seems possibly aan issue MS are aware of already.

Screen Saver Settings / Lock Screen Freeze

when i have tapped and held on background screen.. attempting to find and use a screen saver I see nothing. I have found personalize and the list there which has Colors etc and Lock Screen. Lock Screen was the suggested link to find the Screen Saver but
if i click / tap it it freezes . This is a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2 in 1 Laptop with 4 gig ram and a half Tera of drive. Brand New as of yesterday. It seems like a bug. I cant access Screen Saver easily at all. Not sure why Microsoft would change such a common
feature and make it so difficult to find or how to fix this irritating bug. Can you help me ?

The issue you encountered with screen saver can be due to incorrect screen saver settings. To better isolate your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

• Have you tried changing the screen saver settings?
• Are you trying to off the the screen saver?

Meanwhile, you can follow these steps to turn off your screen saver:

• Open Settings and Select Personalization.
• Click Lock screen, scroll down and choose Screen saver settings.
• Choose None in the drop-down menu.
• Select Apply.
• Click OK.
