Windows 10: Screen freezes then no GPU is found

I was playing RaceRoom Racing Experience for a while, until the screen froze, but only the screen, the sounds kept reacting correctly to my inputs.This already happened a few times in the past weeks, but usually a restart or 2 got it back to life without an issue.This time however, after a restart, the Windows loading dots in circle seemed to be fine, but when Windows finally came up it came up in black and white, low res, and what seemed to be 8 bit or close to. Neither did the Nvidia GPU nor the Intel Integrated Graphics show up in the Task Manager, and the Device Manager said that both of

@Maban - does GPU-Z fail the same way for you the way it does for me? I.e. total system freeze/lockup, requiring a hard reset?

@W1zzard - I will try the suggested steps later today, as I am not near that PC at the moment.

Andre, thanks for your suggestions. I performed all steps as you listed and it appears that there were

some problems that have been corrected. I will let you know in a day or so if the "freeze" problem

occurs again. Many thanks for your help --- this took longer than I expected!
