Windows 10: screen saver disabled

I've checked many times screen saver and power settings; screen saver is set to start at 4 minutes idle, and screen is set to turn off at 10 minutes idle while on battery and 15 when connected.


I've also tried to check if there is any program that prevents screen saver to appear; I've tried closing each program at a time and closing all programs; since the task manager does not show which programs but which processes are running I can not tell if there is any other background program that I can close that may be preventing the screen saver to appear, but there does not seem to be running any not-background program according to what I see on the task bar


The things that may have changed settings that may have happened recently are either visual studio update or the windows update itself, and I am pissed off with both. The task bar keeps showing that I have updates, yet when I open the icon and check for updates it keeps telling me I am up to date, so why the hell does it keep telling me to update if there is nothing to update? and about visual studio, why does the visual studio hog all the system and keeps changing the operating system itself as if that program or Microsoft themselves are that pretentious that they believe that they have the right to change the system itself for each of their programs? are our computers dedicated to them? are they gonna start paying us or what is the deal there


The thing is that besides that, all visible settings seem all right, yet the screen saver is not working, and neither it seems that the power settings that turn off the screen are working. There is no program other than system processes that seem to be running and stopping the screen saver from working. Why is the screen saver not working?

Let us know what happens exactly when you try to set the screen-saver or put the computer to sleep.

I would suggest you to review he settings and check. Here is the steps:

To change Screen Saver:

• Press Windows/Start key.
• Type Screen Saver and click on Change Screen Saver.
• Select the screensaver from the drop down menu and click on Apply.
• Click on OK.

To put the computer in sleep:

• Press Windows/Start key.
• Type Power and click on Power Options.
• Select Change when the computer sleeps in the left panel.
