Windows 10: Screensaver not intiating

Has anyone ever seen Windows 10 screensaver not start up after the specified time because there was some type of windows update available?

For me, it seems that when a Windows Defender definition update or any other Windows update is available, my screensaver will not load properly. If that update doesn't install immediately, it hinders the activation of the screensaver. The screen goes blank and the only way to get back to the desktop is by hitting control, alt delete and click cancel to get back to the desktop.

My workaround when this happens, is check for updates, they show (although sometimes they don't show for hours), I update and then my screensaver starts working again.


What would be causing my PC to behave this way?

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
• Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
• Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
• Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.

 

Screensaver issue...


I'm having a serious issue with my screensaver. Anytime I step away from my laptop...within a minute or so it will go directly into screensaver mode. This is with the screensaver disabled. How do I fix this problem...it's driving me nuts.
