Windows 10: Screensaver picture filename

When using the photograph slide show screen saver on Windows XP, there was an option to show the filename and location of a picture. This option is missing on Windows 10.


I've tried looking through the registry. On XP, it is obvious - the key is called screensaver.slideshow and there is an entry for showing the filename. On W10, it looks like it has been re-written. All the keys are in GUIDs. I tried following it through but got lost in the GUIDs.



1 Is it completely missing from the screen saver or just missing in the GUI

2 If it is just missing from the GUI, what is the registry setting to set it.

Screensaver doesn't work with pictures


I know some people have had issues with the screensaver not working. In my case all the screensavers work, except the one I want -pictures. I have always used pictures as a screensaver with other windows os with no problem.

What happens is I can see the pictures scrolling in the mini monitor it shows you, but when I hit preview or when it goes into action, the screen goes black. I have tried using different folders in different drives and using different pictures, but still nothing but black.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
• Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
• Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
• Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.

 

Screensaver doesn't work with pictures

Any chance wrong resolution ?
System offers "recommended" settings. Do you use that ?
