Windows 10: Script failure after W10 update to 1809

I've been using a little script to launch an application in a "kiosk-like" mode. Basically, upon login, the a registry entry calls the script, the script launches the exe, and then script waits for you to exit the app. When you exit, it reboots the PC.


The problem is that it stopped working after the update.


Here is the script. For reference, it's called launch.vbs and is in the c:\launchbox folder

It's run from a shell value added to HKEY_Current_User\Software\

I receive the following error message

Error The system cannot find the file specified

Code 80070002

Source null




Any thoughts?

W10 1809 update freezes PC

updating a Dell laptop from W10 1803. At 100% complete on W10 1809 update, it has frozen. Ctrl-Alt-Del & Power button have no effect.

No idea on how I can reboot! Any ideas?

 

Constant script errors and slow loading pages in 10 internet explorer 11

I have done the steps listed above. They have not helped and I am still getting constant script errors, along with slow loading pages. Are there any other suggestions?

The long-running script error usually occurs when there are issues with Internet Explorer.

To resolve your concern, we suggest turning off the scripting debugger in Internet Explorer 11. Please follow these steps:

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Click the Settings icon at the top-right corner, then select Internet Options.
• On the Advanced tab, uncheck Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) and
  Disable script debugging (Other).
• Click Apply, then OK.
