Windows 10: SD card not recognised

There was a similar thread a couple of years ago but this is now locked and I'm still looking for a solution.


I'm using an SD card in a Lenovo MIIX 320 to extend storage. 9 times out of 10 the card is unrecognised. Disabling the Storage Controller and then re-enabling it usually does the trick but on shutdown and restart I'm back to square 1. I spent seevral hours online with Lenovo Support and all their drivers are up to date as well as the Intel ones but the problem persists.


The device driver for the storge controller is dated 2006 and is a MS one. Surely there must be something newer?


And yes, I have run SFC and DISM to check the system files - all good. OS is latest Win10 Home 64.


Doas anyone have a suggestion?

If no go, I would suggest exchanging the Micro-SD adapter (if it came with it) and/or the card.

I agree with @Berton - get a USB Memory Card Adapter that accepts a Micro-SD card if you don't have a integrated SD slot. IF you do, all you need is the MIcro-SD to SD adapter.

Micro SD Card Not Recognised

Hi I got a new micro SD card size 512 GB, and put it in my mobile and was transferring files and all was well till all of a sudden Es File Explorer crashed, after that my phone never recognised there was an SD card inserted.

I removed it but wasn't able to unmount it, then I tried it in my PC and windows would not recognise it either, I tried doing a disk check but nothing came up so I checked in Device Manager and properties, and all it showed was a mass storage device, so it was just recognising the card reader, but not the card inside.
