Windows 10: sd card read only after upgrading to windows 10

Hi,

I have a micro sd card which does not have the lock function. I am unable to delete or reformat because all the files have changed to read only.

I have tried many things to change the setting - cmd commands, Easeus, and whatever else I found online but to no avail.

I am at a loss here.

I have read that upgrading from OS 7 to OS10 is the cause and that Microsoft was supposed to fix the problem but, obviously it has not.

I would appreciate any suggestion anyone can provide.

Windows 10 not reading SD card

Windows 10 will not read my SD cards. I have tried updating the drivers and other suggestions to no avail. I also have a small SD card that needs an adapter and plugs into a usb port. It doesn't read this either.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Please check your Windows updates (including optional updates).

• 
  At the Start screen, type
  Windows Update.
  
• 
  Select Check for Update.
  
• 
  Download and Install the latest Windows Updates.
  
  Method 2: Check in compatibility mode.
  
  Download the drivers from manufacture's website for Windows 10, if there no drivers available for Windows 10, download the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website and try installing it in compatibility
  mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.
  
  Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

  Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.
  
• 
  Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
  
• 
  Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
  ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
  
• 
  Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
  

Method 3:

Please check if the Micro SD card is listed in disk management.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click on disk management
• Check if the Micro SD card is listed
