  1. SD card write protect Windows 1903

    Hi,

There are a huge number of "guides" for dealing with write protection on drives. None of them have worked for me.

    Situation:

Brand new micro SD card ( preparing for use with a raspberry pi, but that's not important, and also tried other drives )

Dell XPS 15 with SD card reader built in. Insert using a known-working adapter

Device is write protected, resists all efforts at formatting.

DiskPart method - commands work but are not effective.

Registry Editing method - adding the "StorageDevicePolicies" key is not effective

Permissions - I don't see a way to add or change permissions on this device

Anti-virus and Defender - All disabled, just for grins

It appears that, as I work around, I can use a USB adapter, and when I pop in the new card, that works great. Therefore, there is certainly nothing wrong with the card itself.

But, I have this great little microSD port and it should be faster, and sometimes my USB ports are full. It rather appears that, for some reason, the SD card no longer allows any kind of writing.

What's up with that? How do I change it? How did it happen? Why do I have to use USB ports when this fine SD card is working great?

    :)

  2. Write Protected SD

    Hi Fred,

Write-protected SD card disables some functions in the SD card like installing new data, delete data or move data. We suggest checking if there is a small physical switch located on your SD to disable the write-protect. Also, you may try removing the write
protection thru the Properties of the drive. Open File Explorer > Right-click the SD card > Properties > Remove write-protection.

If the if two suggestion we provided didn't resolve the issue, we recommend contacting the manufacturer of the SD card for additional assistance on formatting your SD card.

Keep us in the loop with the result.

  4. SD card write protect Windows 1903

    SD card write protection

My computer is showing that my SD card is write protected. The write protection switch is not in the on position I have already changed the settings within the card ( admin command propt way). I have tested on other computers and camera and they are all
showing that it works. This is the third time this has happened. Why is this happening?
