Windows 10: SD Storage Class Controller, This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I am running Windows 10 Home 1709, OS Build 16299.371


I installed this SD card, https://www.sandisk.in/home/memory-cards/microsd-cards/extreme-microsd-a2





However I get an error as per the below:


SD Storage Class Controller

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

(Driver version: 10.0.16299.251)





I have fixed this on some other devices which had the same error by updating Windows 10 to 1803, however these devices only have a 32GB OS drive, I can't update without extra storage, but I can't add extra storage because of this error.


Rather than having to install such a massive update, if i can just fix this exact issue, would make more sense.

Issue with SD Storage Class Controller

thanks for the tips.

I followed your suggestions and despite none of the 2 actions found any corrupted files or settings, the SD card is now consistently detected by the system.

Only one concern. When checking the status of the Controllers via Device Manager, I now find 2 SD Storage Class Controllers, as it was happening at the beginning of the issue. At that time, however, the presence of 2 Controllers was temporary, now it's permanent.
Is it something I should be worried about?

Hi,

After latest Windows 10 update - March 22, 2018—KB4089848 (OS Build 16299.334) my Lenovo Yoga Book is not recognized SD card.

In Device manager a see SD storage class controller problem. I try to update driver by i have a message best driver on your device is already installed. I also try to uninstall driver, but problem persists.

What can a do ?
