Windows 10: SDR Content appearance setting issue: dark screen after each user session change

It is an issue that has last since Windows 10 build 1803 when HDR capabilities have been introduced in Windows 10. I just reinstalled Windows (last version) on a blank disk and I still have the issue.


After each user session change, that means every day since april 2018, I have to adjust the SDR content appearance setting because this setting value is not taken into account at logon. The result is a dark screen.


The SDR Content appearance slide remains at the correct saved value (around 60% in my case), but I have to touch it (every day) to have my screen at the correct SDR brightness.


It is a very annoying bug and I don't understand why it has not been fixed since april 2018. It is not event listed in the known issues:

Very annoying Windows bug about SDR content appearance setting (since Windows 1804)

Hello,

I have two displays: one HDR capable display (Samsung LC32HG7) and a non HDR display (Iiyama).

I set the SDR content appearance slide to 50% on the LC32HG7 display.

When I change to another user's session and I go back to my session the HDR screen goes dark.

When I open the Windows HD colour settings the slide is set to the previously set value (50%) but I have to touch the slide to have my HDR screen with the correct brightness.

I have had this Window's 10 bug since the first version that support HDR. I have to make this operation every day because my computer is used by other members of the family.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
