Windows 10: Sea Of Thieves / Windows Store - What is it doing.......?

I purchased Sea of Thieves and left it downloading for a day, more than enough time than it needed. I came back to find it had frozen at 4Gbs done out of 47Gbs. Something to do with Xbox Game Bar trying to update and just refused to work. Eventually after tampering around I got the download to start again. It jumped to 15Gbs out of 47Gbs then stopped after 5mins. Clearly the store was just useless and it was downloading in the background so I left it overnight. I woke up to the download complete but it just refusing to install after 1 hour of it "installing" My HDD had been at 100% during this time and the laptop just completely spazzing out I turned it off and back on. Now when my laptop boots im met with 100% Disk usage again and now for some strange reason Sea of Thieves has grown in download size. It's now 62Gbs when the download clearly states 47GBs....after a few mins or so it would try to install but just hang so I would re-start the store for it to start downloading even more then repeat the install hang. After the store telling me the game download was apparently over 90GBs I had enough. After hours of my HDD been at 100%, over 100GBs of data downloaded enough was enough. I located the issue, managed to delete 60GBs that it downloaded. The Disk Usage stopped and so did the downloading but now it just says ERROR. I've troubleshooted, reset store cache, reinstalled store, lots of other things. Eventually it started downloading again. BUT IT WONT STOP DOWNLOADING!!!!!!!


Soon as my laptop is turned on the disk is 100% and the store is just downloading Sea Of Thieves none stop. I can't stop it. Deleting the files makes it start downloading again...… What can I do??? It's downloaded 150GBs!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Christopher,

Sorry for the delayed response. We identified this issue regards downloading Sea of Thieves from Windows Store App and we still working on it to fix the problem. As a workaround, we suggest following the steps below:

• Cancel all existing download on the Store app.
• Start the download of Sea of Thieves once again.
• As soon as the download starts, immediately restart the computer.
  
• After the reboot, do not launch the Store app instead wait for the passive download which you can check in the Action Center. Then it will automatically install by itself and then open the game without any issues.

Unable to download Sea of Thieves from Store

Kindly follow the below steps.

Step 1: Launch Microsoft Store and click on the Account icon on the top right corner of Microsoft Store.

Step 2: Enter the email address that you used during the purchase of Sea Of Thieves game. (The email address that you have received as purchase verification mail for Sea Of Thieves).

Step 3: Once you have logged into Microsoft Store, search for Sea Of Thieves game by clicking on the Search bar on the top right corner of Microsoft Store.

Step 4: Select the Sea Of Thieves game, download and install.

I cannot download Sea of Thieves on PC from microsoft store.

This workaround worked for me first time of trying it. I had the same issue as the OP.
