Windows 10: Search/Cortana Dialog Box not working

Found that my search dialog box was answering all search requests as 'No results found', after any, and all search requests typed in search box, lower left of display. After much troubleshooting for a nonfunctioning search/Cortana nonfunctioning... ie Restart Computer, Rebuild File list, SFC/ Scannow, DISM/ Online /Cleanup-Image /Restore Health, Reset Windows Explorer.. Cortana 'End Task' and restart, Office Reset (though I have only Office WordPad installed), I found that the Search/ Dialog box functioned correctly when I switched to the other user program on my computer, but would not function on the domain user (me), when I was logged in. This was odd because I had always found the search function to be available when I was using my preferred user account (until now), and had not needed, or tried before to access the search function, from the dialog box, while logged in under the alternate user. Why did this suddenly switch accounts? Why can't I use the search box from either account? How can I switch the function of an input in the search dialog box, back to my regular account? I have seen some discussion on using a PowerShell command to reboot the non-working search function, but those threads are from years earlier, and I don't want to make a bigger problem that I already have. Any suggestion(s), would be appreciated. Thank you, Andy Asmussen

Cortana search box does not work.

Cortana search box does not work. One of the suggested solutions was to "press the Windows button + X" to open the dialog box. Then choose "Command Prompt (admin). When I open the dialog box there is nothing there that says "Command Prompt (admin). So,
what do I do now to fix the problem of the search box not working? Thank you.

  Right click on the task bar.
  
• 
  Go to Cortana.
  
• 
  Click on show search box.
  

Now check if you are able to find search box.

Can't type in Cortana search box

Is you keyboard working normally on other apps such as Notepad? If not, run the built in troubleshooter for your keyboard. Here are the steps:

• Type Troubleshoot in the Search box and press
  Enter.
• Look for and run the Keyboard troubleshooter.
• Follow the onscreen instructions.
