Windows 10: Search function not working in File Manager

I'm are working on Windows 11 Pro and when I input a search for a file in a folder nothing comes up, yet it's in that folder.Is there a solution to this.

File Manager Search

All of a sudden i can't use the search function in win10 file manager, i can't get my cursor to go in, it almost looks like it is greyed out. I have google and none of the suggestion work. win 10 ver. 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1889) When i boot up in safe mode i can search in the file manager. Any suggestions ? Thank you

 

My search is not functioning

1. Use the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-Esc to open the Task Manager.
2. If you see only a handful programs listed by it click on the "more details" link.
3. Locate "Cortana" under background processes.
4. Right-click on the process and select "end task" from the context menu.

The Cortana process is reloaded right away by the operating system.
