Windows 10: Search is Broken

Windows Explorer's search function fails to find files, and the search bar is locked and frozen. The search bar refuses to take any text. I have had this problem on and off now for at least six months. I see someone else had the same problem but that thread is locked for new replies. The thread has no replies. Why lock down an unanswered question with no replies to new replies? I will not renew Microsoft office 365 until this problem is fixed. I have an old copy of office on a cd I can use. I have several times asked for this issue to be fixed from tech support, but the tech support is completely lacking. I can't even get them to understand the issue. I use Dropbox and I go to search for a file, but the search bar is locked. I also tried to upload my documents to One Drive but the search bar was still locked and frozen in one drive. Today the problem was fixed and worked for about an hour, but then it decided to shut down again right in the middle of me trying to sort out my photos, and put them into folders. There has to be a solution, since it does sometimes become unfrozen, but I can't figure out what it is. I did all the updates also, hoping a new update will fix this in Windows 10. This is now up for discussion, but also will welcome any tech support help or other people who have the same issue. It may be something simple like me tweaking the settings, but hurry because 365 will be out of time soon so I have to fix this before then. I can't take notes if I can't find anything in my documents photos. Therefore I won't need Office anymore if I can't take notes. I will just keep my notes until this issue is fixed.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

Thanks for the suggestion but still didn't work. I tried to restart after it problem still there.

Any other suggestions that I haven't done or some same steps that I forgot something.

 

IE11 Google Toolbar no auto search suggestions, no search history?


Since the last Win 10 update my Google Toolbar won't list any search suggestions as I type and there is no search history listed. The Google tool bar will allow a search, but after a few searches no search history shows and no "clear search" button is listed either.

I have turnd on "Suggest searches as you type", and "store search histroy on my computer" in the Google Toolbar options.

Any suggestions to fix this?
