    searching for files and folders

I seem to remember that in Windows 8 and 8.1, if I searched for a file but didn't remember the exact name of the file, I could type part of the name and the file would be found. But in Windows 10, if I don't type the whole name, and spell it correctly, it just doesn't find the file! Is there any way to change that?

    Searching in Linked Folders-File Explorer

I currently have hundreds of sub folders that have a lot of Pdf's in them. Each pdf hase a unique file name. In the past I have always went to the search and found anything I needed. We are rebuilding the way we file things at our company and now these
sub folders will be put into a lot of job specific folders. I don't know how I'm going to quickly search for these names anymore. Is there a way to link all theses subfolders in one main folder and be able to search in all them at once??

  3. Searching in Linked Folders-File Explorer

If the folders are scattered all over, then you may create a "saved search" file which searches only the folder locations you define. The example provided here can help.

Searching with Windows Explorer in Windows 10 for folders across - Microsoft Community :

And here is Microsoft's documentation on Saved Search File Format (Windows) : Saved Search File Format (Windows)

You can add as many additional search parameters or queries (AQS) in the saved search file, as desired.

Try using "*" at the beginning of the search term.
