  1. Second Monitor Colour Calibration

Hi There: I have a Dell XPS 15 2-In-1 with a Radeon™ RX Vega M GL Graphics with 4GB HMB2 graphics card and a 4K screen. I also have a 27" LG monitor (27UD58-B) with a 4K screen. AND, I have an X-Rite i1 Display Pro puck and software. Now the Dell doesn't have an HDMI port, but I have both a Dell dock that connects via USB-C and has an HDMI connection, and I have a USB-C to HDMI 4K 60Hz cable. Choice of cables doesn't seem to matter.

Calibrating isn't the issue. I have recently generated profiles for both the laptop screen and the external monitor. If I use only the laptop monitor or extend the displays, I can go into Display Settings and choose the .icm colour profile for the Dell screen, but no matter what I can't choose a profile for the LG screen. There's no option available to do so. I went into the Device manager and checked, and Windows is showing it as a Generic PnP Monitor. I bought the LG monitor for colour critical work (Affinity Photo, Lightroom, etc) so how do I enable the colour profile for this screen? And before anyone suggests it, I've already updated all of the drivers, etc.

    Thanks,
    Mike.

    Dual monitor colour calibration

I've been trying to figure this out for a decent amount of time and it's driving me nuts now. I have two identical brand and type of monitors, a Nvidia graphics card (1060) with the most up to date drivers (I already re-installed them). The monitors aren't
aligned color-wise. Creating an icc calibration profile (through colour management in windows 10) and setting it as the default for the monitor I'm trying to adjust is temporary, it reverts very quickly. The system defaults are set to "use windows display
calibration" and the monitor with the set profile is also set to "use my settings for this device"

What's preventing this "default" from being a default setting? How do I make this calibration permanent?

Sidenote, using the Nvidia control panel to adjust the desktop colour settings yields the same results when any colour adjustments are made. After applying, the change is temporary, a few seconds. Even when the Nvidia control panel is set to use Nvidia settings
    over other applications

    Thanks!

    Second Monitor Colour Calibration

Second Monitor Calibration Issue on Hibernate / Restart

I have an Asus N56VM laptop running Windows 10 with the latest NVIDEA GForce Driver and a Hanns-G HE225DPB monitor attached via the HDMI output (there are no specific drivers available for that monitor).

By default, every time I started Windows or resumed from a hibernation, the colour / contrast on the second monitor would be out. For example, if I opened up an Excel worksheet, I wouldn't be able to see the grid lines on the second monitor, while they would
be perfectly visible on the laptops built in display.

To resolve this issue, I would open up the calibrate monitor dialogue, drag it to my second display and then click next. The calibrate monitor dialogue would then appear full screen on my second monitor. I would then close it and the issue would be solved.
To be clear: I closed the dialogue without running the full monitor calibration process - the act of getting to the second screen (where it says, "To get started...") fixes the colour calibration issue (until my next restart).

I have since discovered that by digging in the NVIDEA Control Panel, selecting Display -> 'Adjust desktop colour settings' and then selecting 'Use NVIDEA settings' instead of 'Other applications control colour settings' seems to permanently fix the issue.
My question is, why? What is the calibrate monitor wizard doing at the start to fix the second monitor display after every restart / hibernate? Is Windows not starting something up correctly?

Also, on a slightly different issue, do you have any idea why Visual Studio wouldn't render the last 1mm or so at the bottom of the second monitor? When I have Visual Studio (2013 or 2015) full screen on the second monitor, the bar at the bottom is cut off
slightly and ends with a black line (if you open up VS with the black theme, it will have a purple bar at the bottom with the word 'Ready' printed in it). Normally there's about 1mm of purple under the 'y' of the 'Ready', but on my second monitor, the purple
under the 'y' is cut off with a black area. This only happens in VS, other applications use the full screen just fine and when VS is full screen over another application, the bottom 1mm or so is black (so it's over-painting the application below, but somehow
not recognising the bounds correctly). Not a major issue, just wondering what VS is doing differently.

    Thanks!
