Second screen goes full black when using browser streaming services

Hi everyone, during the last week I've been experiencing troubles using my second monitor.

A few seconds after I start watching a video from a browser streaming service Disney+, Prime Video, Netflix, the monitor goes full black.

It happens with every browser I try Edge, Firefox, Chrome.

Stuff that might be useful or might not, who knows at this point:

    1. PC's a 2015 Lenovo z50-70 so first screen is the laptop's own screen
    2. monitor's a Samsung S24D330
    3. monitor's connected via HDMI
    4. video drivers are correctly updated
    5. I ran some diagnostics using the Windows built-in tools but everything seems fine
    6. monitor works fine when I use it with my company PC Dell XPS13, runs Ubuntu 20.04
    7. sometimes the screen stays black even after I closed the whole browser
    8. sometimes the screen goes black even if the browser is open on the laptop's screen
    9. sometimes it doesn't go black if I start watching a video using the laptop's screen and then I move the browser window to the monitor

I can't seem to find a way out of this.

Hope someone can help me out!

    :)

Screen goes black seconds into streaming video from ANY service (TV on demand, Youtube, Netflix) unless I move the mouse

Every time i watch a video now from any streaming service, the screen goes black. This happens whether it is full screen or not. It is fine until the time/play bar at the bottom of the video disappears. Once that goes away, which is usually a few seconds
into viewing, the whole screen goes black but I can hear the video still playing. The only way to stop it happening is to constantly move the mouse so the time bar doesn't disappear. This happens on youtube and every streaming site i use from New Zealand.
I've turned off every screen saver and screen sleep setting I have but it still happens. Can anyone shed some light onto this issue? I use google chrome a my browser.

    Screen goes black

    Hi,

To isolate your concern, we would like to ask a few questions:

    • Were there any changes made on your laptop prior to this?
    • Does it only happen when you use Internet Explorer, or have you tried using a different browser?
    • Are there any external devices plugged into your laptop?

If your laptop experiences a black screen after upgrading to Windows 10, you may refer to this
link on how to troubleshoot black screen errors. Follow the steps provided. For additional help with

    Hi Kris,

It is possible that your screen goes black may be due to a critical system error which can cause the system to shut down. To isolate your issue, we'd like to gather more information:

    • Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
    • Did you get any error messages when it turns black?
    • Have you tried checking if the sleep mode is turned on/off?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Meanwhile, we recommend that you perform the steps in this
