  1. Security Breach in Microsoft OneDrive: Please help!

Hey guys, I'm running Windows 10 Pro and I've been wanting to remove Microsoft OneDrive from my PC because I'm constantly asked to "sign into" OneDrive at the bottom right hand of my screen. I read online that I can remove the OneDrive app by installing OneDrive from the Microsoft Store so I did this and now I'm in trouble.

I logged into my family's OneDrive account where we store photos from the family photo collection, HOWEVER, this is my big worry: That my other family members will be able to access my Windows 10 PC because my Windows 10 PC's account is now linked to the family's OneDrive account so if a family member can login to the family OneDrive account they'll also be able to access my Windows 10 PC. How can I prevent this?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    :)

All these kind of pop-ups are fake warnings - scams. Don't call these numbers.

    :

When this happened to me, I closed Microsoft Edge using the Task Manager.

Then in the search bar next to the Windows 10 logo on the bottom off the screen (I call it the "Cortana Search"), I typed in google.com and hit enter.

Microsoft Edge opened up with a new tab for Google. You can see the offending site still opens in a tab that doesn't have focus. Click the "X" to close Edge. Do not click on the offending site tab or it will get focus again.

When Edge closes nicely, I won't "Restore" the sessions and the offending site tab will be gone.

After a reboot the pop-up should be gone.

If not, please follow the steps provided here: Remove Tech Support Scam pop-up (Call For Support Scam)

As I understand it as long as you haven't setup sharing on your computer they can't access your computer. They can only access files on OneDrive. I know I can't access any of my other computers and laptops. In File Explorer what do you see when you click on Network? All I see is the computer I'm on, my router and my printer.

You stated what the problem is. The solution is to stop using a shared One Drive account. Also the OneDrive account does not allow direct access to a computer hard drive, unless someone is able to go around the security setting to notify you when requesting access to the security side of OneDrive, along with asking to reset the password on a Windows 10 computer using a Life account to log in with.

The issue is in Microsoft's rush to gain users for their Cloud Services. They dropped the ball when it comes to allowing basic protections like Google does with their Cloud service. This is why people need to stop trusting Microsoft to handle all of their affairs when it comes to computer security and offsite storage.

All that you have to do is reset the account of a person using a Live account to log into windows and you have full control. It does mean that someone would have to have not put in a recovery email or cellphone number.

I left out that all that it takes to get into someone's User's directory on a computer, is to be a Administrator and you can get into even their offline storage in the One Drive folder. Humans are the worst when it comes to securing stuff.

If it is private information. Keep it locked up in a safe on a removable USB drive and make sure your breadcrumbs are wiped out with a multi-pass delete that goes from 0's to f's when it does it.

You cannot, since it is a integrated part of Windows since 8 when Microsoft started with the whole Live account Roaming profile. You can use a local profile as everyone did with Windows 7 and just disable the feature for your account. But when you log into another computer or have to format that computer. You have to rebuild your user profile settings for things like background, any saved info for live tiles.

I really do not see why people suddenly lost their minds when 10 came out and threw security out of the door, thinking that Microsoft had their best interests. The only company that I allow to remember stuff is for Chrome, since i use it between multiple devices.

If you are worried about the family finding out what you are doing, then there is a trust issue here. Portable app's come in handy at times when you have to use a public computer at a local library or coffee shop, when you do not want breadcrumbs that someone with the right tools can monitor what you have done on the machine.

I still don't see how they could access NiceAndShy's computer through OneDrive. The only access I have from all my computers is the files and folders I have stored on OneDrive. I can't even see my other computers through OneDrive let alone access them.
