  1. Security

For purposes of the questions below, please assume the following: current password is zcurrent, old password is xoldpasword prior to factory reset - see item # 1 below.

    1. So my current password is zcurrent. I run AMD cleanup utility, which was fine. But after my windows 10 rebooted, it will not accept my current password. So I inputted my old password xoldpassword. Note: When I bought the Windows 10 laptop back in December 2019, I had some password issues during the set up. So the laptop manufacturer tech suppoprt helped me do a factory reset of the laptop. Everything is fine from then on. Luckily, I documented my old password, i.e., before the factory reset back in December 2019.

After may be a couple of reboots nothing abnormal, I just needed to reboot down the road, within the same day, same seating, it will not accept the old password and so I entered the supposedly current passwrd zcurrent.

So what happened - why did it even accept the old password and cycle back to the current password?

    2. While I was doing something I’m not sure if what is on my screen was the AMD and if it was, I forgot what was on my screen. The point is the message “bad module is restarting” flashed for a brief second. When I go into the Internet - all there is “how to fix a bad module”. I am not sure there is anything to fix as it just flashed fast and disappeared.

So what happened and is there something I should do?

    3. I do have a password disk reset Windows 10 created months back way after the factory reset mentioned in item # 1 above. Given item # 1 above, should I erase the password disk reset Windows 10 and recreate a new one.

    4. When I had issues loading the latest AMD Radeon software update, I got “error opening file for writing”; when I click on details of error, it says “can’t write C: AMD”. So I went to C:AMD, Security and allowed the “write” for Authenticated Users and Users. I then rebooted the laptop. Reinstalled the AMD software update and this time it run fine. I used to be able to run the AMD software updates seamlessly without having to change the “write” for authenticated users and Users nor tweak any security. The question I have is should the “write” be allowed to begin with for Authenticated Users and Users for c: AMD.

So what happened, did one of the Windows update change the security of the write? Because I never changed it before. It is set to however it was when I bought the laptop.

Should I disallow the write and just allow it whenever I will load an AMD software update.

    Thank you in advance.

    :)

That made me so facepalm. Some people have absolutely no clue. I hope they don't take you for granted with all this you're doing for them.

SonicWall is a good security product, so Mindweaver's suggestion sounds like a good one and should make for a rather bigger baby step. Let's hope they take it.

    Microsoft Edge TLS Security

After trying everything (not a lot of steps) listed in the Microsoft Edge support site, I did a wider search and found this very simple youtube video that fixed it immediately:

For those who prefer not to click links the steps are simple:

    1. Click in the Cortana search bar next to the Win 10 Start button

    2. Type internet options

    3. Select internet options (control panel) from the list

    4. Click on the advanced tab

    5. Scroll down to the security section

    6. Make sure the following are all clicked:
    Use SSL 3.0
    Use TLS 1.0
    Use TLS 1.1
    Use TLS 1.2

    7. Click apply

    8. Refresh the page that was giving the error and it should now connect.

Hope this helps, it was a 30 second fix after hours of pounding my head against the error with the Support site suggestions.
