Windows 10: Select October 2019 Xbox Update 1910 Features Rolling Out to Insiders

As Xbox Insiders, your feedback is incredibly valuable to help us test and refine features to ensure we’re delivering the best experiences possible on Xbox. In preparation for the October 2019 Xbox Update, we’re excited to share some more details on new features and improvements that will become available for you to check out soon.

Starting last week, Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings began to see a few of the below features on their Xbox One consoles. Xbox Insiders in Beta, Delta, and Omega Preview rings will receive these features in the coming weeks, in the lead up to our broader release.

Here’s a rundown on what’s new in 1910:

Wish List Notifications

We’re so happy to see everyone enjoying the Wish List feature on the Microsoft Store! The October update is adding more to this feature, starting with notifications that alert users when an item in their Wish List has a price discount. We know how exciting it is when a game you want goes on sale. The new Wish List notifications will make sure you never miss a great deal.

Mixer Viewing Improvements

Mixer and Xbox One are integrating further with the 1910 update. We’ve built a full Mixer viewing experience right into the dashboard, with a focus on speed and simplicity. Viewers will no longer have to navigate to a separate app to enjoy their favorite streamers. Getting to the Mixer content you want to watch has never been easier!

Recent Players Improvements

We listened to your feedback regarding the popular Recent Players feature, and its frequent use with large-scale multiplayer games. We’ve made significant improvements to the Recent Players experience. The service is now more reliable and allows you to connect with other gamers instantly. You can now more quickly and easily engage with your Recent Players, whether you are sending a message, inviting players to a party, or adding them to your Friends List.

More Flexible Capture Settings

We heard your feedback on wanting more control over your game capture experience. The “Allow game captures” setting now has multiple options, giving you a choice of what types of captures can be taken. You may now select between ‘”Captures by me,” “Captures by me or games,” or “Don’t capture.”

Recommend a Game Pass Title

In 2017, we announced Xbox Game Pass. Since that time, we’ve seen an incredible turnout of users joining the service that brings you unlimited access to over 100 titles and counting! If you’ve ever found yourself recommending these spectacular games to your friends, with the 1910 update, Game Pass users will have the option to do so directly from their Xbox One console. Discover your next favorite game and bring your friends along for the ride in October.

Under-the-Hood Game Update Improvements

With 1910, players can jump into their favorite games even faster! We’ve added improvements, based on your feedback, to background game updates, resulting in players encountering the “update required” screen less frequently upon launching a title.

A subset of users may also see other experimental features that are not listed here. These features are only enabled for a portion of the Xbox Insider audience to gauge interest and collect feedback. Your participation in the Xbox Insider Program helps us improve the work-in-progress content and features coming to Xbox One.

Xbox One Preview Alpha and Skip Ahead 1910 Update 190814-1910 Aug. 16

Starting at 2:00p.m. PST today, members of the Xbox One Preview Alpha Ring will begin receiving the latest 1910 Xbox One system update (Build: 19H1_RELEASE_XBOX_DEV_1910\18363.7100.190814-1910).

Available: 2:00 PM 8/16/19

Mandatory Date/Time: 3:00 AM 8/17/19

Fixes:

Notifications/Alerts

Fixed an issue where alerts/notifications were not loading when accessed in the Guide.

System

Various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console.

Known Issues:

Audio

Users who have Dolby Atmos enabled and console display settings set to 120hz with 36 bits per pixel (12-bit) are experiencing loss of Dolby Atmos audio in some situations.

Workaround: Disable 120hz or set Video Fidelity to 30 bits per pixel (10-bit) or lower.

Some users using default audio settings with an audio setup that supports a maximum of 2 channels and Dolby Digital and NO headset connected will experience audio distortion when they start their console.

Workaround: Navigate to Settings>Display & sound>Audio output and set the HDMI audio to Stereo Uncompressed.

Controllers

Some users have reported that they are unable to power on their console via a controller.

Note: If you encounter this behavior, please make sure to include the firmware version of the controller in your feedback description. This can be accessed by navigating to Settings>Devices & streaming>Accessories using the controller experiencing the behavior and select the ellipsis from the Controller menu.

Gamertag

Customers attempting to change their GT using the new Gamertag features on the console will not yet see those changes reflected on the console.

Profile Color

Sometimes users may encounter the incorrect Profile color when powering on the console.

FEATURE UPDATES:

Home (Experiment)

Thank you all for the great feedback on the experimental home update. The first round of our home experiment concludes this week, and Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead users who have it will start to see the current dashboard again. This is in preparation for additional testing to the Xbox One dashboard. We’ll let everyone know when to keep an eye out for the next round of testing based on your initial feedback.

FIXES:

Notifications

Fixed an issue where users were not receiving notifications for Club invitations.

My Games & Apps

Fixes to the download ETA timer reliability when downloading content.

Dashboard

Various fixes to UI and navigation.

KNOWN ISSUES:

System

Some users have reported the console shutting down unexpectedly while using Netflix.

Some users have reported the console shutting down while playing games.

Dolby Access

Users are unable to complete the setup for Dolby Atmos in the app and the app is not recognizing Dolby Atmos headphones

Note: This is an issue with the Dolby Access app and the app developers are aware and investigating.

Xbox One Preview Alpha Skip Ahead 1910 Update 190721-1945 - July 24

Starting at 2:00 p.m. PST today, members of the Xbox One Preview Alpha Skip Ahead Ring will begin receiving the latest 1910 Xbox One system update (Build: 19H1_RELEASE_XBOX_DEV_19H2HOLD_1910\18363.7046.190721-1945).

My Games and Apps – Download Queue Improvements

We are adding a new feature in this build to the Download Queue in My Games and Apps today based on User feedback. You will now see the Estimated time to finish downloads appears in queue. Please test out the new feature, provide feedback, and complete the survey in the Xbox Insider Hub.

Home

50% of users will begin to see and experimental version of the dashboard. For more information on this experiment, please review the blog post on the Xbox Insider Blog here.

Note: This experiment is randomly selected and the Xbox Insider Team cannot assist with users who do not see it.

Profile

Users who have the new Gamertag experience may begin to see your updated GT reflected across parts of the profile.

Note: Users who created a new GT on Windows 10 or Xbox.com may see a mixture of their old and new gamertags reflected on parts of the console.

We’ve fixed an issue where the Dashboard reloaded when navigating to the Community tab for some users.

System

Various Localization fixes.

Known Issues:

Cortana

Users are unable to use a headset to issue Cortana commands on the console.
