  1. September 2020 Windows 10 update

Two or three weeks ago I got a notification that Windows 10 needed to restart to load updates, and I was asked if I wanted to "restart now" or "schedule a restart". I scheduled a restart for the early morning hours when I wouldn't be working. The restart did not take place until I was working the following morning, when I was basically forced to stop everything and give Microsoft its way. Five hours later the hard drive was still hammering away but there was no longer a signal to the monitor. I did a hard shut-down and eventually everything calmed down and was back to normal.

Day before yesterday I got the same message about needing to do a restart to update, and once again I scheduled it for the early morning hours. It didn't happen, and late morning I got the update restart pop-up window again, but this time I had the option to postpone for an hour, which I did. An hour later I was given the wait option again, which I clicked, hoping to keep clicking this option until my workday was done. The next time something popped up it was a message saying the computer was going to restart without my permission, to save my work and let it do its thing. No choice. This was at around 12:30 Friday afternoon. I left it overnight to complete the install and when I came back in the office at 11:30 Saturday morning the hard drive was still slammed light flashing and no signal to monitor.

I have lost 11 hours of work because of this. Times are tough enough without Microsoft messing with my work flow. Please tell me how to make this stop.

    Thanks

    :)

    windows 10 worth the upgrade?

    Cumulative update for W10: September 8, 2015

This is the biggest update W10 ever had. Lol look at the file list.
This is pretty good for those who installed Windows 10 today. Just one update that has everything, no need to install previous updates.
