  1. September CU, "September 11, 2018—KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285)" Problem

When the September CU, "September 11, 2018—KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285)" installed on my two Windows 10 PCs, I found that one PC had a serious problem. No Windows system window, e.g., "Task Manager" "Uninstall Updates", System tray entities, nor any MS Office apps, would display any text, either in the menus or work areas. I tried re-booting a few times to no avail. There was no indication of a problem after the update finished.

I'm wondering if a Registry entry got munged? I would like to NOT have to re-install windows to a prior rev, if possible.

    Any ideas?

    :)

  3. September 20, 2016 — KB3193494 (OS Builds 14393.187 and 14393.189)

To all who are still having problems with KB3193494 (OS Builds 14393.187 and 14393.189):

If you will, I would like to provide feedback on Update KB3194496 from my personal experience with the problems with the above cited update.

First of all it appears that Microsoft in their September 29, 2016 - KB3194496 (OS Builds 14393.222) had a fault in the update that caused it to fail and caused the loops in rebooting. It also appears that they have corrected the problem as of approximately
2:00 pm ADT Oct 1, 2016. The reason I say this is that Microsoft had automatically installed the latest (September 29- KB 3194496) update on my PC at that time and when I clicked to restart the PC the update began and completed successfully. I then ran System
File Checker Test as an administrator and found no integrity violations.

To those of you who are having a problem with the earlier updates, I refer you to the post by The Real John Bowler on October 1, where he gave what I agree is the answer to the problem. You should consult that post, check your update history and if there
are any glitches that have prevented you from updating from Windows Version 1511 to Version 1607 (the Anniversary Update) I highly recommend that you follow the advice contained in the post by The Real John Bowler and completely reinstall Windows 10 from the
earlier build that he refers to.

To those who may have a comment on this feedback,

    I welcome any such comments.

Thank you for allowing me to post this.

September CU, "September 11, 2018—KB4457128 (OS Build 17134.285)" Problem

    September 20, 2016 — KB3193494 (OS Builds 14393.187 and 14393.189)

I'm not sure why I got this update for my desktop. It's not available for my laptop. (my laptop is running version 1607 and my desktop is on version 1511. Except, maybe because I had network sharing turned on.

If you go to Update and Security and click on "Learn more" it shows the update which says, " September 20, 2016 — KB3193494 (OS Builds 14393.187 and 14393.189)

"We encountered a network transmission issue with update KB3189866 published on September 13, 2016, and the quickest way to address this issue was to reissue the update to all Content Delivery Networks. This new update KB3193494 has the same set of fixes
as KB3189866. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

So I tried to reinstall it and had the same problem. (freezing at the start up window) This time I got an error message.

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607 - Error 0x80240017

So I guess the problem is it's trying to install the update for the wrong version. I found this about the error code- If the software update does not apply to the computer on which it will be installed, the Wusa.exe tool returns a "0x80240017 (WU_E_NOT_APPLICABLE)"
    error code.
