Windows 10: Setting up a Kinect 2.0 w/ Windows 10

Hello,


I just dug my Kinect out of storage because I wanted to use it as a webcam. I've searched out and installed all drivers, I've unplugged, re-plugged...all I get is a never-ending "downloading software" pop-up that does nothing.


Is there no way to get it to run now? Is this just a paperweight?


I'm running a Surface Pro 4 w/ Windows 10 Pro 10.0.18363 Build 18363


I would love to use this as my main webcam as my setup has my surface camera facing much too high and I would love the versatility.

To answer your query, Kinect for Windows is only programmed to work on Windows computers. Xbox consoles like Xbox One and Xbox 360 can use Xbox Kinect specifically programmed for each of them.

My Kinect 2.0 don't work with my computer

Thank you for your response. To further isolate your concern, we suggest that you plug the Kinect into a different USB 3.0 port on your PC. If possible, set up the Kinect on a different computer to test if there is an issue with the system configuration
on your computer.

It is also possible that your computer software is outdated. We suggest that you install all the critical and important updates by following the steps on this

If you have a spare Kinect Adapter, you can use it on your Kinect to check if there is an issue with the Adapter.
