  1. Setting up a "perfect" recovery partition

    Hi there,

I just got a new HP Elitebook x360 1040 G5 and for once I want to do things differently and be prepared when Windows blows up.

So I'd like to set up a recovery partition on the notebook's ssd that also contains a system image of the updated "mint" state (Win 10 plus all updates installed, all drivers and a few programs like Winrar & Firefox). The partition should be bootable and I'd like to also be able to create a copy on a bootable USB stick.

So if anything happens to the OS I should be able to revert quite easily without going through the driver & update hassle.

What do I need to achieve this? Any good turorials? Any tips on this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Lost recovery partition

Hello, I see that you are having issues with recovery partition. I would suggest you using the diskpart command in the command prompt. First, open up the comand prompt as an administrator, then type in diskpart. Now, type in list disk, and look for the
recovery partition drive. Follow the steps in the link below:

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have further questions! Setting up a "perfect" recovery partition :)

    How To: Create recovery partition.

it worked when i copied all the files of the disk to the recovery partition i created, but i had to use WinPE tab to add the entry.

    Type: WIM Image (Ramdisk)
    Name: Recovery
    Path: Z:\Sources\boot.wim
    and hit Add Entry
I tried it in VirtualBox and it worked.
At first, it would add a second "Windows 7" entry to the list, but when the installation is finished, the old one is deleted. (I formatted only C: partition)
