Setting up a wired connection, "network cable unplugged" error showing

    Hello

Today I bought a Ethernet cable to use however I am having problems setting it up. I've updated my driver for 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' and I have followed some guides and threads on the internet, but nothing I have tried has worked.

I have attached a copy of the error I am getting, the cable is plugged into my computer and my internet router, so I'm really puzzled why the error says the cable is unplugged.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you,

    :)

    Homegroup no longer detected

Here is my story. My computer worked with Windows 7 with HomeGroup. After upgrading to windows 10, home group stopped working and "join" option showed up. When I tried joining, it showed no homegroup was detected. Of cause, I entered the home group "password"
I used before and verified it was correct. After several attempts, the "join" option disappeared and a "create" option became available which had not been there before. So I created a new home group. A new password was automatically created. Note that this
computer was connected to the network with wire. After that, I went to a laptop which is wireless connected to the network . Tried joining and failed just like the first computer. Then I connected the cable to the laptop and tried joining the homegroup again.
This time, it joined automatically and even didn't ask for password. I was happy with it. However, when I unpluged the wire connection and switched to wireless, the computer in the homegroup disappeared. It seems that wired and wireless are on different networks
even though they are connected to the same router. Any idea?

  3. Hidden network won't connect on windows 10

I bought a new acer aspire e15 windows 10 laptop and i used a wired connection in order to first set it up but when i took out the Ethernet cable and attempted to connect i came up with multiple "cant connect" errors or it just completely ignored it.
i was able to see that my computer saw there was a hidden network but didn't choose to connect properly. we have had to turn our SSID to open then connect and then hide it again.... but when we restart the router i have to repeat the steps PLEASE HELP ME

Setting up a wired connection, "network cable unplugged" error showing

Welcome to the forum. Does the port on the router show a light for the port the PC? Some ports on PCs have a light when a cable is plugged in does yours show that? You are plugging from PC to router LAN port

No light is showing on the router, nor is a light showing on my PC - I don't think I have one. I am plugging from my PC to a Virgin Media Hub, is that considered a router?

I'm not sure how I just fixed it, I turned off my computer and took the wire out my PC and Internet hub and started my computer. I then removed my wireless dongle and put the wire back in my PC and Internet Hub and it immediately worked. *Confused

Very puzzling, but I am glad it is working now. Thank you again for the help!
