    Several problems after update

Hello after updating microsoft windows today (27/09) KB3176937, KB3176935 and security update KB3193494 I noticed a couple of issues.
    - When trying to open programs (or programs that open upon start up) they wouldn't open at all and if they they did it would end up not responding. This goes for Windows 10 settings, services, Steam and skype haven't tried anything else. Chrome can run perfectly fine. Settings, services and steam would not open at all, and skype will login in upon start up and continue to not respond
    - I can't run anything in admin, after pressing run as admin it blurs out the screen with no option for me to close it (although i can still hear the nice of the pop up opening) to exit this i Ctrl+alt+del followed by a black screen with i press esc out of.
    - Randomly upon start up cortana and the start menu may or may not work
    - I thought i was unable to turn off the computer, after searching i realise i am able to either right click the start menu (left click doesn't work) or alt +f4
Me not having a clue where to post for a solution i hope this is the right place
    Thank you

    :)

  3. after update 3/15/17 several problems

You may have already run across this but after reading hundreds or maybe thousands of complaints about the same problem. "After critical Windows update 3/15/17" the Windows DVD player stopped working. After reading through many, many reply's I ran across
a reply that said problem solved if you uninstall (KB4013429) installed at that time problem goes away. Don't know if that is the correct approach but I did and DVD player started working.

Thanks for your previous reply's and suggestions.

Hi, you could try uninstalling the update, or use a system restore point if you have one.
This may be the simplest way forward.

If you have a problem with your disk or file system, you might experience some difficulty, so I would then also recommend you do this:
    From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

Assuming you can get back to a working state, I then recommend you start using disk imaging to protect your PC, if you don't already, and which allows you to recover from many problems (e.g. Macrium Reflect (free))-strongly recommended here.

Is your PC listed as Win 10 compatible? What is the make/model?

Hi, sorry i wasn't clear enough. If anything asks for admin i can't click the verification it gives me after clicking it, that is the verification with the yes or no answer after clicking run as admin or in this case command prompt (admin). After clicking the command prompt (admin) it shows a slightly darker version of my background and makes the normal noise knowing the verification should be presented to me. so i won't be able to chkdsk unless i fix this first, although i will see if i am able to uninstall the update and will reply shortly. My pc is custom made and made sure it is win 10 compatible.

Do you have any system restore points or do you use disk imaging, or have you created a system image?

Those are all ways you can go back to a previous state.

Failing that, I would suggest you
boot your PC from a win 10 bootable medium (or the bootable disk/medium available here:
Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums
and from a command prompt run
chkdsk (your OS drive or partition letter): /F

    NB:
(your OS drive or partition letter) - the drive letter will probably not be C: as viewed from a command prompt outside Windows, so you need to check.

If clear, follow that by sfc /scannow and post the result.
If repairs are made, and the result is clear, try rebooting and see if there's any change.

If not, then I suggest an in-place upgrade repair install.

Hello, If all you did was copy the iso to a flash drive, you have a flash drive with a file on it. You don't have a bootable flash drive.

The easiest thing for you to do (the most familiar) is burn the iso to a CD/DVD (I don't know how big it is, so choose appropriately).

Secondly for a PC to boot from bootable device other than its internal disk, you need to change the boot order in the BIOS. This has been so for many years.
