Several Programs cannot connect to internet

    Hi

There seem to be a lot of these problems and they are posted all over.

Firstly most of my programs that were carried over from my windows 10 upgrade seem to have some form of internet connectivity problems, my browsers work completely fine, with the exception of internet explorer, which I think is the reason for the connectivity problems, it also seems that I cannot install java, that was a possible solution that came up in a different forum. error says: cannot install java with current internet settings. The other programs that have connectivity problems are steam, bluestacks and Microsoft office 365, and that it cannot verify my licence I am currently reinstalling it to see if this solves it. will post it here if it has been solved. I use to have comodo antivrus before upgrading to windows 10, I am unsure if there are any remnants of it hiding that is causing these problems. any help will be appreciated, if you require more information I will give it if I can

    :)

  2. Many programs cannot connect to internet after upgrade to windows 10

    Hello Zheng,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

From the description provided, I understand that applications/programs are unable to connect to internet after the Windows 10 upgrade.

Refer to the below methods and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    Method 1

As an initial recommendation, I would suggest you to follow these steps to run the Windows in built troubleshooter:

    a) Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.

    b) Click on Troubleshooting
    tab.

    c) Click on view all option on the upper left corner.

    d) Select the Internet connections option from the list.

    e) Click Next to run the Troubleshooter.

    Method 2

Try to place the computer in a Clean Boot state and check if there are any third party applications to be causing the issue. Follow below.

    A. To disable all non-Microsoft services consult the article called
    Clean Boot.

    Follow: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting"

Disclaimer: A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows. You may
also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot. You must log on to the computer as an administrator to be able to perform a clean boot. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality when you perform a
clean boot. When you start the computer normally, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or experience the original behavior if the problem still exists. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings
may prevent you from following these steps.

    B. To disable any 3rd party unwanted startup programs in Windows 8 and above, follow:

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/20119.how-to-enable-or-disable-startup-programs-in-windows-8.aspx

    Method 3

I would also suggest you to check if any exception has been added through Windows Firewall settings and remove it.

    Visit:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/Windows-Firewall-from-start-to-finish

Refer to the section Allow an app to receive info through the firewall

(Links relevant for Windows 8.1 also applies to Windows 10)

Additionally, I would also suggest you to disable any third party security softwares which might block certain applications from connecting to internet.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily
disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Hope the above information was helpful. If you need further information, feel free to write to us and we would be happy to help you.

    Thank You.

Several Programs cannot connect to internet

First cause can be incorrect firewall settings blocking connections. To find out, disable the firewall and see if problem is fixed. Next check the network adapter for any third-party protocols installed by the antivirus. They usually don't work as expected, just disable them and you should be OK. Last thing if everything else fails is to search for malware affecting your network connection. If you need any help of how to do these, post again.

    Hi

Ok its not the firewall that was my first thought. I would need some help in checking if there is any third party protocols on my network adapter, I actually have no idea what exactly to look for. I checked for any malware on my whole computer it didn't seem to find anything

Click on the search icon and type network, then click to open Network and Sharing Center. From the left, click Change Adapter settings. Right-click on the Ethernet adapter (local area network) and select Properties. In my list of installed protocols, I see "Client for Microsoft Networks", "File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks", "QoS packet scheduler", "Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)" "Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4)", "Link-layer topology discovery mapper I/O driver", "Microsoft network adapter multiplexor protocol" (unchecked), "Microsoft LLDP protocol driver" and "Link-layer topology discovery responder". All these are the Windows standards and are all checked (enabled) except for "Microsoft network adapter multiplexor" (disabled). Anything more is extra and you could try uncheck the box to disable it. Also click on the IPv4 and IPv6 and select Properties. They should both have auto settings, not manual.

Next thing to check is that there is no proxy blocking connection to the internet. Click the search icon and type control, then click to open the Control Panel (desktop app). Click View by -> Large icons to see all controls and then click on Internet Options. Click the Connection tab and then LAN settings. The "Use proxy server" box should be clear (unchecked). The "Automatically detect settings box" sometimes works best checked, sometimes works best unchecked, try both.

    Hi

Thanks, although all those things seem to be same as yours, Although I did notice there is a java icon in my control panel but only the 32 bit version I will most likely also require the 64bit version (my computer has a 64bit processor ) which I am unable to install, as mentioned above the Microsoft office 365 reinstall didn't fix its problem either instead I cannot even reinstall it, give me an error saying. Couldn't install unable to download required file Error Code 30183-1011 (20157952506).

Several Programs cannot connect to internet

If you have the Office 365 setup, you can run it to repair installation or uninstall, do not try from Programs and Features. You can download 64-bit Java at java.com: Java + You, go to All downloads.
