    SFC Scan Found Corrupt Files...

I went into Safe Mode (as requested by Avast) and ran the Avast removal tool.
It ran and told me that Avast was removed, even though it was not installed.
I restarted and am now running the SFC scan again.

You still seem to have leftover files from Avast on your computer, could be on your drive somewhere, or leftover registry entries.
You could check your drive for any left over Avast files using the Free search tool called Everything. Just download this search tool, then enter just the word Avast, it will find any trace of Avast on your hard drive, no matter where it is, hidden or not. Will also give you the choice of deleting the files too. I've been using this free app for long time, does a great job of finding files.

I do use Everything search and I've run searches for any leftover Avast files, but just to show you the search results.
Here's a screenshot of the search

    SFC Scan Found Corrupt Files...

I've reinstalled Avast and used RevoUninstaller to uninstall it.
Than I ran the Avast Clean up tool.
I've done another SCF scan of my system to see what it shows.
This time is doesn't complete the scan.

Run SFC 2 more times, reboot between runs, just to see if it changes. I've had to run it 3 times before it does repairs in the past.

Why not just do the repair install. An hour and you're done.

    SFC Scan Found Corrupt Files...

I've run SCF scan 4 time, with a restart after each time.
SCF Scan goes to 7% each time, as before ...

    Yes, you're probably right.
Nothing seems to be correcting/fixing this issue.
I think I may have to do this after all.

Yes, as it is about the only thing left to try. Should not take that long either.

I have had to do it a few times recently with new laptops that after installing windows updates show errors with SFC scan and Dism repairs and shows nothing.

I just disable secure boot in bios (reenable later) and use the media creation tool to do the upgrade/repair and its pretty fast and always makes SFC error free.

No need to disable secure boot in bios, unless your running a Windows version older then Windows 8.1 Done the repair install a few times myself, using the media creation tool also.

    Brink's tutorial states:

"Before you get started doing a repair install of Windows 10, be sure that you also temporarily UEFI firmware settings. Once installation has finished, you can enable Secure Boot again if you like."

But if that is true then its even easier then. I've noticed that it does not turn off system restore after its completed like I think mentioned there somewhere.

I've never disabled secure boot in my bios, and its always worked just fine.

I believe you. I think my first time doing the repair upgrade I neglected to disable it and it completed. I thought though that something might have went wrong because Brink's images of the steps near the end were different than what I saw. Brink recently updated the image though after I mentioned it so it actually completed correctly.

Still, because he has it there, I follow it and its always worked well.
