    SFC Test Log Interpretation Help

    I ran SFC Scannow and it indicated corrupted files that couldn't be repaired . However when I ran the sfclog.txt, it showed that all items had been repaired. I am thoroughly confused - can anyone help me figure this out?

    Please note the last line of the text: "2015-08-18 13:52:04, Info CSI 00004df6 [SR] Verify and Repair Transaction completed. All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired".

    :)

    Windows10 - Interpretting SFC Log

    ...I meant to add that; whilst away I engaged in a chat session with tech support who recommended that I mount the Windows10 ISO on the desktop and re-run the Update; I have not done this yet.

    Best Regards

    Windows10 - Interpretting SFC Log

    I updated Windows8.1 to Windows10 (3 days ago) via ISO file (Windows10 Ver: 1511 OS Build 10586.420) and now working thro' post-update problems...

    I have run the SFC Tool and have the result: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log
    %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log"...

    So, I viewed the Log file; the Log file is massive; it contains results from over the past 3 days (Date/Time Stamp).

    Notepad is not the best text management tool; so I copied/pasted the Log file to be better text management package where I can search via strings; but, what am I looking for..?

    I have not found any articles explaining how to interpret the Log file... Have found a few articles discussing how to repair/replace damaged files; but, none on what to look for in the CBS.Log file nor any on how to interpret/meaning
    of the statements used...

    From the Log file - To the left I see the Date and Time, then a word I assume is a status indicator..? I.E. "Info" or "Warning";

    This is followed by a line of text;

    Some of the text contains capitalised abbreviations; "00001610 [DIRSD OWNER WARNING] Directory [l:45 ml:46]"\??\C:\WINDOWS\System32\LogFiles\Fax\Outgoing" is not owned but specifies SDDL in component Microsoft-Windows-Fax-Service,
    arch amd64, nonSxS, pkt {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}"

    Some of the text contains statements; e.g. "L: 00001656@2016/6/24:08:48:13.505 Primitive installers committed
    for repair"

    Some of the text contains statements; e.g. "00001dff Error - Overlap: Duplicate ownership for directory [l:29]"\??\C:\WINDOWS\System32\lv-LV" in component Microsoft-Windows-mlang.Resources, version 10.0.10586.0, arch amd64, culture
    [l:5]"lv-lv", nonSxS, pkt {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}"

    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

    SFC Test Log Interpretation Help

    Hello John, *Smile

    Looking at your SFC details, it shows that the package.json file for Cortana in the folder below was found to have a hash mismatch, and thus consider as corrupted by SFC. SFC reported that the file could not be repaired since the source file in store is also corrupted.

    Code: C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy\dss_service\node_modules\windows.networking[/quote] If you like, you could go through the troubleshooting steps in the blue note box at the bottom of OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to see if SFC may be able to repair the file afterwards.

    SFC Command - Run in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

    If you don't use Cortana, then you could just ignore this if you like.

    Thanks, Brink - appreciate your help, but I got it fixed in another forum - they had me back to "normal" in less than 30 minutes. I am grateful for all the forums I have access to, including this one foremost.

    Ran sfcfix.exe - it was some sort of file for Cortana that didn't exist. It was confusing SFC.
