Windows 10: Shadow copy and SSD

Hello.I have an ASUS ROG with an internal ssd and a internal hdd that i use as storage.A few months ago i install O&O defrag.When try to use trim command appears a message to disable shadow copiescreation of restore points because decrease the life time of ssd!!!Is that true?For 2 years now i use normally the creation of restore points as i do all these years with my previus laptops that they had hhd.I am in panic...I have not contact with O&O.I do not trust what they say....Is any member which he officially know?

Windows Defender incorrectly reports threat in Volume Shadow Copy

I think you misread my question.

I did what you suggest immediately after I first downloaded the file.

The problem is NOT that the file itself gets flagged -- it does not as it is in the exclusions list.

The problem is that the exclusions list applies to the absolute path to the file.

What Windows Defender is complaining about is the COPY of the file that is present in the Volume Shadow Copy, NOT the original file.

There appears to be no way to tell Windows Defender to ignore the COPY of the file in the Volume Shadow Copy. Then, every time my backup program (Retrospect) runs, Windows Defender detects the file IN THE VOLUME SHADOW COPY and complains.

I suggest you to start the Volume shadow copy service and check. Follow these steps:

a. Click Start and type services.msc in the search box.

b. Search for the Volume shadow copy service and make sure the start- up type is automatic.

i. Right click on the service

ii. If the service is stopped, then Start the service

iii. Select Properties

iv. And in the Start-up type select Automatic.

c. Click Ok.

I suggest you to make sure “Volume shadow copy Service” is enabled.

Follow these steps:

  Press “Windows key + R” from the keyboard.

  Locate “Volume shadow copy" service.
  
• 
  Right click on it and select “Start” option.

  Close the “Services” Window.

Method 2

Place the computer in Clean Boot and then try to perform Backup.
