The new registry value also has it's corresponding value for off, icon only and on.

BUT you can't just use same value for all windows 10 PC because it has different value per machine.

    1. I find out it's take another registry value named MachineId into account and it's in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient.
    2. It append an underscore and the old registry value (2 for off, 1 for icon only and 0 for on). example: {C283D224-5CAD-4502-95F0-2569E4C85074}_0
    3. Reverse it. example:0_}47058C4E9652-0F59-2054-DAC5-422D382C{
    4. Hash it using HashData (it's in shlwapi.h) but second parameter is 0x53

    https://preview.redd.it/7i52lxzmu80...bp&s=f65e009bc6f1f40dd5cc9261137a8b9a56f2af87

bHash match the value from the image above.

remember to set 0xFE to 0x0 if you are using swprintf_s.

  3. How to restore registry values?

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

You can perform system restore and check if it helps:

    Perform System restore.

I suggest you to perform system restore and select a date prior to the changes which was done with the registry values and check if the issue gets fixed.

    To perform System restore:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
      System.
    • In the left pane, click on System Protection.
    • Select the option to system restore
      > next. It will show all restore points already created.
    • Select the date prior to the date on which you have made the registry changes.

  4. ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode deprecated after KB5036979 and the new registry value is more secure

News and Interest items don't go away when hidden. Location is incorrect and doesn't update

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

If you still can't cancel and hide in the normal way, you can first try the following ways to change the registry.

    1. Type regedit in the search box in the lower left corner of the desktop to open the registry settings.

    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds

    3. Locate the Dword value ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode.

If it does not exist, right-click on Feeds and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.

    Name it ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode

    The following values are supported:

    1. Value 0: Both the weather icon and temperature is shown.
    2. Value 1: Only the weather icon is displayed.
    3. Value 2: The feature is turned off.
    Restart the computer.

Keep us posted if you encounter any challenges along the process.

    Best regards
